I'm Mrs. L.! I'm a certified teacher with 17 years of experience. I've taught children from kindergarten through fifth grade. I'm a graduate of Southern University, which means I'm a proud Jaguar. :) As a teacher, I like to first find out what my student already knows before moving into a lesson. I believe all students learn at different levels and different styles. It's important for me to know your learning style in order to effectively plan lessons.

I've been tutoring almost as long as I've been teaching, probably longer actually. When I'm not teaching, I'm writing. I'm a national best selling author of three novels. I've also written a script for a short film.

I believe my 17 years as an educator makes me a unique and very qualified tutor. I also spent time as an instructional specialist, which means I was able to work with the teachers with planning lessons and offering feedback.

As an author and teacher, I love everything about English. I love creating stories and helping students discover their love for literature.

I've taught phonics to kindergarten and first-grade students for over six years. All of my students were successful readers by the end of the school year.
