I can help you develop the confidence of knowing you can say (or write) exactly what you need to say, clearly and eloquently, in the appropriate tone, to whomever you need to say it.

I work with students from preschool to grad school and current/aspiring professionals of all ages.

Oh, and I’m great for SAT prep too (though someone else may be more useful for the math section).

Me:

I am a writer and entrepreneur with extensive experience teaching people of all ages and learning styles in a variety of subjects. I started and run a business providing clinical teaching, health education, and curriculum consulting to universities, hospitals, and community groups. I’m an experienced writer and editor and have published articles in both mainstream media and medical journals. I previously worked with children ages four to seventeen on reading, writing, critical thinking, test taking skills, and college admissions essays. I’ve taught clinical skills to med, nursing, and PA students, and occasionally practicing physicians. I also have experience with very different styles of teaching, as a former assistant figure skating coach and a certified yoga teacher!

Professional skills and mentoring:

As a business owner I am responsible for reading applications and interviewing prospective hires, as well as managing our relationships with contractors. I frequently write both professional and academic recommendations for people who have worked with us. I am also responsible for presenting and marketing myself and the business: I have extensive experience as a guest speaker, presenting at conferences, and meeting with groups of university deans and professors who are interested in using our ser

Career Development

I started and run my own business, and have extensive experience reading applications and interviewing prospective hires. I also frequently write professional and academic recommendations. One part of my business involves running trainings to prepare students of all ages for careers in our field. That includes the actual material and skills, but also how to turn those new skills into successful careers and, often, their own business. Roughly 25% of my students end up as entrepreneurs; others end up successfully employed; and many later go to grad school in related fields. Students receive continued mentoring after the training; I have extensive experience assisting with admission essays, cover letters, resumes, interview preparation, and other written and verbal communications with employers, academic advisers, and potential clients.

Public Speaking

I run a business providing clinical teaching and health education to universities, hospitals, and community groups. I have extensive experience teaching, presenting at conferences, and speaking in front of groups of university deans and professors who are interested in hiring my business. I also run trainings for people wanting to work as clinical teaching associates; I teach participants how to speak comfortably in front of large groups (often comprised of people much older than they are), communicate effectively with their students, present their experience and expertise to best effect, manage verbal and written interactions with current and potential employers, and comfortably discuss sensitive matters (such as negotiating payment).

I am that unusual person who has always enjoyed taking standardized tests, and I equally enjoy helping students develop the type of critical reading, writing, and thinking skills required. Amazing, Informative Tutor

I've spent thousands on Wyzant tutors. Working with Alexandra has been the only one worth the time and money. Her interest in helping you is genuine. She's very good at pinpointing your struggle, even if you don't have the words for it. Best of all, she doesn't take over your work and write it for you. She guides you to create wonderful pieces and gives you the tools to better your writing in general. She's incredible and I'm grateful I asked for her help.

Amazing Tutor for Personal Statements!

Before working with Alexandra, I was struggling to put together my personal statement for medical school. Alexandra worked with me to brainstorm new, more impactful ideas. Through our lessons, we have worked on the content and the structure of the essay. Overall, her guidance has been very helpful through the writing process and I definitely recommend working with her on any college or professional school applications!

Alexandra is very helpful and knowledgeable

I have used Wyzant before and have come across some really good tutors but Alexandra is hands down one the the best. She is super knowledgeable in her field, helpful, and relatable. I would definitely recommend seeking her help in her area of expertise.

Excellent and fantastic tutor who I found here!

I worked with Alexandra a couple of times together since Jun this year. At first, I felt the price is more experience than my expectation, but her work is worth this price after working with her once a time. I had a wonderful time to work with her for my academic writing and application documents. We did many discussions before editing, and she provided me great ideas and a clear guideline for my papers, which is so helpful following her tips. I will highly recommend her to all my friends who need the help of proofreading. She is a fantastic tutor here so that I don't want to switch to others.

Amazing experience! Helped so much, while also teaching me how to improve my own skills.

Alexandra made time to help me at the last minute with my early admissions applications, and she was amazing. She’s a fantastic editor for both grammar and content, and she explained things so clearly that I learned a lot about grammar I’d never known or understood before (and she’s very engaging, so it was totally painless! I didn’t know that was possible). She’s so good at helping you figure out where the sticking points are in your writing, then guiding you to untangle them and put together strong pieces that tell stories and are something someone would actually want to read. She’s also great at figuring out how you think about writing and helping you make adjustments so you can be a better writer overall. She taught me a lot of tricks for getting my thoughts down on paper much more clearly from the beginning, and how to break through when I get stuck. I couldn’t recommend her more highly!

She was so easy to work with and I could tell she was truly invested in my success. I originally planned on one only doing lesson but was so impressed I scheduled a second one right away. Alexandra is very knowledgeable on what companies are looking for and I would recommend her to anyone entering the workforce or seeking employment!
