Dear students and parents;

I am a certified math teacher majoring in math and statistics at Stony Brook University. I am very confident in teaching math; I have a strong background in math that can benefit students learning. Deep understanding and knowledge of the concepts of topics and many different types of problem solving skills are my powerful tool in teaching students math. Understanding of concepts is very important in math since it would guide and help students to approach the problems and solve them in an appropriate way. Nevertheless, through tutoring many students, I have noticed many of them lacked understanding the concepts. For this reason, they have struggled with solving problems, even simple questions.

My teaching technique was very effective to resolve the problems many students had. Helping them understand the concepts clearly and teaching problem solving skills in a various way to fit their individual need(level, ability and learning style)was successful for students to accelerate their math skills.

Math is my passion and the strongest subject and really enjoy working with students. It would be great pleasure if I can help you or help your children. You will be seeing how math can change your life.

Elementary Math

The math skills that students learn in elementary school build a foundation for future learning, so it is important for student success, but more important is a concept since without conceptual understanding, it is meaningless to solve the problems. Many middle and high school students lack these concepts and skills due to the lack of foundations from their elementary level. I focus on them and it really works well.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 covers expressions, systems of equations, functions, real numbers, inequalities, exponents, polynomials, radical, and rational expressions. Many students find Algebra 1 challenging because it requires a new way of thinking and many different types of problems solving skills. Algebra I is an important topic in math since it is a gateway to higher education and gives you the skills to solve more complex problems.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

In Algebra 2, students will learn about numbers, polynomials, inequalities, sequences and sums, many types of functions and how to solve them. They will gain a deeper insight into math and practice using new skills with many questions. During the sessions, I always encourage my students to use pen and paper and try their best until they get the solutions. "Don't guess the answer"
Geometry,

Geometry

High school geometry requires more precise definitions and developing careful proofs from their middle school geometry experience. One of the most difficult things for students in geometry is to determine two figures are similar or congruent. It is essential to learn how to approach the problems and use definition, postulates, and theorems appropriately in a logical way and lead them to conclusions.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I have experienced teaching SAT math for over 10 years. Most SAT math questions can be solved in more than one method, so I approach to questions in many different ways based on my students problem solving skills and prior knowledge for the problems. For each problem, I assess their weaknesses for the problem and strengthen their weakest area. In addition to, learning mathematical concepts and appropriate approach for the problems is an essential foundation in SAT math. It worked excellently for most SAT students.

Trigonometry,

Trigonometry

Trignometry involves the relations of the sides and angles of triangles; it is to find a missing side or angle in a triangle. For example, given one side of a triangle and two angles in the triangle, then the other two sides and the remaining angle are determined. It also deals with the special function, sin, cos and tan and the inverse of these functions, cot, sec, and csc.

GED Math: For the GED math test, students should know mathematical concepts and apply those concepts to various problem situations. They should have a strong grasp on problem-solving, reasoning and analytical skills. The test also includes graphs, charts, diagrams or tables, so they should be able to understand and apply mathematical concepts in real-world situations.

I have five years of experience tutoring students for the math Regents exam (algebra 1, 2, trigonometry and geometry) for grades 9-12. For the past years, I have taught and had students practice all the problems in eight actual Regents exams. Through practicing the problems repeatedly, they became more confident and gained problem solving skills. My goal is to not only help students achieve good grades on the Regents but also motivate to learn math.

My son loved his lesson.

My son felt that for the first time in a long time he understood how to breakdown equations and understand how they work. He can't wait to go back. She was able to help him understand ways to break down equations so that he can dissect the process . He feels confident that he will pass the regents with her help.
