I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.95 GPA from the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English literature with both honors and distinction. I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.95 GPA from the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English literature with both honors and distinction. The Honors status was not simply because of my G.P.A. but because I wrote an Honors thesis that was judged by the chair of the English Department to be worthy of that status. I also graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Camden County College with an Associate of Arts in communication. New Jersey rated my Praxis testing for teaching certification as "excellent" in all subjects from kindergarten through 5th grade, as well as in English and all related language arts for grades 6th-8th.

I have taught SAT prep courses for the verbal portion (reading and writing), so be confident that I can help your child be as successful as possible when taking the SAT or the ACT. I am also the college prep testing coordinator for my school.

My past experience includes tutoring at Camden County College for English, pre-algebra, and first-year Latin. I have also worked as a certified substitute teacher in all subjects for grades K-8th in the Evesham Township school district. For years, I have been tutoring students privately in various subjects--with special emphasis on English and writing.

Moreover, I have worked full time as a tutor at a private academy that employed an online curriculum. I helped these middle grade and high school students better understand the online material in all their subjects.

In addition to tutoring, I home schooled my children, covering subjects from Shakespeare to Latin and everything in between. At age 14, my daughter took The College Board's Accuplacer and tested into college-level math and English. She will earn her Associate degree in Psychology at age 17.
My emphasis is on fully comprehending material before building on it, rather than accepting a decent grade only to press on to new, more complicated material. My approach to tutoring is the same. The importance of a student fully grasping the basis of a concept before piling on more compone

Study Skills

Throughout my college education, I have developed study skills that all students benefit from: mnemonics, flash cards, taking notes as you read, and having others test what you remember. I have also been able to use these skills both as a substitute teacher and a tutor at Camden County College to help students be as successful as possible academically. Additionally, I know the importance of minimizing distractions; allowing extra study time for the subjects that are most difficult; quizzing each day on cumulative information instead of cramming it all in at the last minute; chunking the material into smaller, more manageable segments; getting organized with notes, outlines, color coding, etc.; and making these habits lasting.

Knowledgeable and great since of humor.

She is very pleasant. My 7th grade son was reluctant at first and even started to cry, but she was so helpful and he got more into it. He thinks she can really help him with his reading comprehension. I can’t wait to see how this progress. She is awesome and I highly recommend her.

Excellent Tutor!

My son benefited greatly from Anne-Marie's tutoring for the reading comprehension part of the SAT's. Anne-Marie was positive and patient. She was able to assess my son's starting position and reading style and assist him from there. She also talked to me personally regarding the session and followed up with an e-mail. Anne-Marie was very knowledgeable, prepared and organized. Both my son and I feel most confident as he takes the SAT's soon!
