Hi! My name is Clara and I graduated with Honors from Brown University with a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. As a student, I greatly appreciated the teachers who made me feel comfortable asking questions in class. Whenever I was confused about a concept or curious to know more about how something worked, I always knew that my questions would be welcomed and that I would receive a thorough answer. Throughout college, I began to realize that asking questions was not just a way of clarifying things that seemed confusing, but rather the key to truly understanding a topic. Over time, I found that I not only continued asking questions, but I also began answering those of my peers. In beginning this exchange of information, I strengthened my own knowledge of topics such as Biology, Spanish, and essay writing, and learned how to turn the most difficult concepts into manageable and exciting learning opportunities.
Realizing that I enjoyed teaching as much as learning, I began to tutor high school students in subjects including Biology, Neuroscience, and SAT test prep. I have experience working with students of all ages, and am familiar with various academic curricula including the International Baccalaureate (IB) and AP systems. During my lessons, I like to implement a mix of structured and unstructured time to ensure that my students gain the most out of the experience. After talking to the students and identifying what their goals are with tutoring, I like to use the structured time to review topics of difficulty in detail, and then the unstructured time to discuss less specific questions the student might have.
I strongly believe in tailoring lessons to each individual student and creating a space where questions are not just welcome, but encouraged. To make sure each student benefits from our lessons in full, I am open to suggestions and feedback that will enhance their learning. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, I do my best to respond within 24 hours. I look forward to meeting you!
