I teach because I love learning. I respect the teachers I have had and continually strive to emulate those who provided an outstanding education, and it is my pleasure to teach others in an environment that facilitates their learning. My philosophy of teaching is grounded in a fundamental truth, that knowledge and understanding leads to both individual and societal improvement. But that's not the only reason I enjoy teaching. I truly love seeing the lightbulb go off when a student understands a concept.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and have been studying Psychology routinely for the last 12 years through my tenure in the U.S. military. I also personally enjoy researching human behavior and neuroscience from both a theoretical and empirical standpoint, regularly conducting research and writing to further the field of study.

I am a certified ESL teacher and have been teaching English to non-native language learners for nearly 4 years, first while living abroad in Spain and periodically once I moved back to the U.S. I have experience teaching reading, writing, speaking and listening with language learners of all ranges, from young elementary-aged students to adults with decades of life experience.

I also specialize in phonics from an ESL perspective to help language learners improve their accent and achieve the level of speaking proficiency they desire.
