Bio

I recently graduated from the University of Utah with my Baccalaureate of Science Degree in the Major field of Biology, with a Minor in Chemistry and a special reward for Research Designation. I just moved here to California looking for a career to further my passions in the sciences, and would love to have the opportunity to tutor you!
I have tutored Biology in the past, and as a member of the American Chemical Society- Student Chapter, I was also granted the opportunity to tutor Chemistry...

I have tutored Biology in the past, and as a member of the American Chemical Society- Student Chapter, I was also granted the opportunity to tutor Chemistry and Science to school children K-12. I also was a Teacher's Assistant for the grueling hard Organic Chemistry class at the University of Utah. I would say, that as far as these subjects are concerned, I am very well rounded and able to help anyone from Kindergarten Life Science, to a 6th grade Science Fair Project, all the way up to Upper Division Biology/Chemistry classes at the University.

While I specialized in the physical sciences mostly, I have had a broad exposure to education ranging from music, math, literature, grammar, etc. I have had an increasing number of requests for subjects outside my specialization, so I studied up and learned what I needed to know to hit a larger array of subjects. I started following homeschooling curriculum for several prestigious programs available in California, and have been providing this service for a while now. I take less students for homeschooling because it obviously takes a lot more time than one or two hours a week.

I only played one year of Trombone but there wasn't an option for Tuba. Don't let that stop you! 99% of my experience is on tuba, but skills in low brass are universal, and I know more than a thing or two. I spent 10 years playing Tuba with 6 years of marching experience. I played at prestigious events such as the Utah Music Educator's Association, the Utah Ambassador's of Music tour to Europe, the All-Stars program where I got to play with the Utah Symphony Orchestra, received top rating at all state solo/ensemble performances, was section leader to the Utah All-State Band, and all while I was in High School. I also continued to play through college including being a part of the Pride of Utah Marching Band.

I received an "A" in my undergraduate Genetics course. I spent 2 years working in a Quantitative Genetics lab, where I gained a lot of knowledge which would more than cover what could be asked in a classroom setting.

After getting my LGT and WSI in 2008, I have been lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons every year. I have studied aquatics instruction across multiple methods, including American Red Cross, Starfish, as well as private company methods. I can teach ARC WSI swimming levels up to level 4 for all ages, as well as private lessons for adults and children starting at 6 months. Unfortunately my official WSI and Starfish certifications expired awhile ago, and there doesn't seem to be anyone around the Valley who will give them, but my knowledge and experience are still vast and valid.
