I have taught in the school system and have tutored for the past 20 years. I have experienced first hand the frustration students have felt as they struggled with math. However, working in the school system I was limited in what I could do about this, so I decided that my talent was better served providing one-on-one tutoring. I tutor K-12 math and English.

I have taught in the school system and have tutored for the past 20 years. I have experienced first hand the frustration students have felt as they struggled with math. However, working in the school system I was limited in what I could do about this, so I decided that my talent was better served providing one-on-one tutoring. I tutor K-12 math and English.

Math is my absolute favorite subject to tutor. I love watching a student go from struggling with math to achieving high marks. Many children struggle with math from the very beginning. Math is a progressive study based on early fundamentals. Once a child learns one concept, the next concept builds upon the one he or she just learned. Every math concept builds upon the previous one, so if a child does not have a solid understanding of one particular concept, he or she will struggle with what follows after. For this reason math gets harder for these kids every school year.

To help these children, I go back to the basics to see where a student got lost. I help students grasp basic concepts of math that will apply to life skills such as paying bills, managing a budget, and other necessary math-related skills. I use my expertise in math to help them improve their grades significantly, conquer their fear of math and boost their confidence.

I have been told by many students I have tutored that I explain things differently than their teachers and they understand the material better. I strive to explain concepts in a way that students will understand and remember. I strive to help students have a better experience with math.

My love for math and my desire to help students who struggle with math gain a better understanding of math concepts have led me to develop and research ways to explain difficult ideas or complex topics. One of my favorite success stories is of a college student who had to take a prerequisite algebra course. She enlisted my help after failing the midterm five times. (If students failed the midterm, they were not allowed to take the final and h

I have tutored Algebra 1 for 16 years to individual students as well as groups. I've also worked as a high school teacher's assistant in the math department for 5 years. Algebra is my favorite topic to teach in math. My students have told me that my teaching style is very different from their teachers' and they understand it better the way I teach it. I always look for different ways to explain math to students because not all students learn the same way. I cater to their individual needs. I have helped students who were at the point of failing pass math as well as the Regents exam.

Read This!!

Let me start by saying i was terribly afraid to start tutoring with someone... my own insecurities about math led me to instill in my head that I was fundamentally flawed. Im 37 years of age and math has been my #1 enemy since childhood. But Venecia helped me to find strength, hope and patience. Which in turn allowed me to have the courage to tackle math. She understands that learning isnt a "one size fits all" type of deal. She incorporated ways of teaching that I didnt know fit my learning understanding. She is efficient and kind she pushed me when I needed a little nudge and now I know that I am ready for Math! I advise if your looking for a tutor choose her!

Thank you...

Miss Venecia C. continues to demonstrate patience and a clear understanding of education principles. Most importantly, she doesn’t jump or proceed to the next topic, or material without making sure my daughter has a clear understanding. She is available to discuss and review my daughters strengths and progress. My daughter definitely needs more disciplined, and Miss Venecia is the teacher to have - always on point, and doesn’t miss a beat. Overall, my daughter has more confidence and her grades have improved - we look forward to more sessions!

Great tutor

Very descriptive of her sessions and meets my son at the level he is at. He feels very comfortable with Tabitha. I’m already seeing results in the short time he has been with her

Caring and patient tutor

Venecia has been going over some of the building blocks of algebra and working very closely to develop competency in this area with my relative, who says she would "highly recommend her". Very good at breaking down concepts for things that were previously hard to grasp.

Very encouraging

So far, I’ve enjoyed seeing my daughter actually have a fighting chance at learning different concepts. We will continue to apply and provide maximum support so she can attain the confidence needed.
