Hi! I am Amanda! I am currently in my 24th year of teaching both Algebra and Pre-Algebra in a junior high. I have always tutored students in a one-on-one setting throughout those 24 years of teaching. I have my elementary education degree with endorsements in middle school, math, and language arts. I have my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. I absolutely love working with my students in the classroom. I also enjoy working with students in a one-on-one setting as well! I am able to take my many years of experience and use that to help explain the math to students in a way that makes sense. A strength of mine is to take the concept and break it down for students using language that they understand and at a pace that allows them to truly grasp the concept.

Another strength of mine is my natural ability to connect with students and make the learning experience non-threatening and comfortable for them. I accomplish this with my laid back personality, solid understanding of the content, and confidence in myself to communicate with students using language they understand.

I am very flexible in setting up sessions. I like to begin first by listening to the student and what it is that they are struggling with or what they would like to get out of the tutoring session. I have done tutoring sessions that assist students who need extra assistance in the content or I have done sessions to help extend students’ understanding in the content. Through our open communication, I know we can make the sessions worthwhile and help your child however they may need it!
