I was fortunate to teach three classes in data analytics at my Alma Mater Wharton in September 2019. I have tutored in a wide range of subjects, from English, math and science, to finance, business, computer apps (Excel, QuickBooks, MS Windows, WORD) and other subjects. My English, math and science tutoring include years of volunteer tutoring in schools in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. Acquiring knowledge is an adventure, and I like to convey my passion for learning to my students. I was inspired by passionate teachers, and I like to convey that passion and to see my students enjoy the process of learning.

I have been teaching and tutoring for decades. In college at Cornell University, I taught high school English and creative writing for a year to students at a New York State Home for Boys. With my instruction and help, a dozen boys were successful in writing short stories. I was able to arrange to publish these stories in a Cornell University literary magazine. Each of the boys had a bound copy of all of their work. For every one of these boys, it was the first time they had ever written, much less published, a full short story. The directors of the facility where the boys lived told me that the boys in my creative writing class were changed for the better.

I taught English in Japan to over 60 students.

While working for a large company, I developed curriculum on financial analysis and discounted cash flow analysis, including educational materials. I then structured and presented a two-day intensive class (12 hours of instruction time) to 10-12 groups of employees in cities across the USA.

I developed curricula and materials and presented a one-day seminar on quantitative statistical analysis (regression and trending) and financial risk analysis. This course was delivered in 10 cities across the USA and in London, UK for three successive years with hundreds of total attendees.

Elementary Education

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

I have taught math, reading and writing on a volunteer basis in pre-school and elementary school. I am infinitely patient with kids and like to teach in a fun manner where the content of the lesson sticks because the kids are enjoying it!
Reading,

Reading

I love reading. Reading is a window into all there is to know. Reading is a key to knowledge of the universe and to the joy of life. I love to teach reading and reading comprehension.
Spelling,

Spelling

I have always taken the study and mastery of spelling very seriously. I began by actually reading the dictionary in elementary school. I loved to study and learn not just the words themselves, but also the etymology -- which often helps with the spelling. I encourage all of my students to read extensively -- and to always keep a manual log of any words that are new to them. When you write a word down -- it helps you learn the word and helps you remember exactly how to spell it.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I have always taken the study and learning of vocabulary very seriously. I began by using Vis-Ed Vocabulary cards in high school. I realized early on that one's ability to express one-self is dependent in part on the extent of his/her vocabulary. I encourage all of my students to read extensively -- and to always keep a manual log of any words that are new to them. When you write a word down -- it helps you learn the word and helps you remember it. Vocabulary can and should be fun -- since we all like to express ourselves. A continually improving vocabulary helps enable us to express ourselves better.
