I obtained my California Teaching Credential in English & Social Science after I retired from a career in government relations and taught English at John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento. For the past eight years I have tutored adults for the purpose of getting their GED; I overhauled and managed the Adult Education Program Manager for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services; I retired from this position on February 27, 2015.

I am married and have three children. My wife is a pharmacist, my oldest son is an attorney in Los Angeles, my second son is an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board in Washington D.C., and my daughter is an Deputy Director for Policy with the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. Clearly, education is a priority for me and my family.

I believe that everyone can learn if they have the desire. There is, however, no magic wand. As a tutor, I will teach, guide, reteach, urge and push but nothing will happen until the student's mind engages the material. If you are ready to learn, I will teach you the concepts and guide you until you understand. I will do this with patience and understanding but with an expectation that you have a commitment to succeed.

In addition to having a California teaching credential in English, I was a high school and college debater. I have coached speech and debate at the high school level. Effective public speaking skills will improve both academic and job performance. There are many forms of public speaking, including original speeches, extemporaneous and impromptu speaking, original prose and poetry, dramatic and humorous interpretation, and expository speaking. A student can have fun while improving their academic performance.

Amazing Science tutor

On the first day of my tutoring session I went over the things I was struggling on. Dan listened and knew exactly what I needed to focus on. He supplied me with paperback books to take home that focused on the areas that I was struggling in. At that point I felt confident that I had chosen the right tutor. We worked on my problem area, and I left feeling confident. Today was my second day, and was as awesome as the first time. I can tell that Dan really cares, and i feel quite confident in regards to my next test.
