I worked for NASA as an Aerospace Engineer in the 60s, 70s and 80s. I even applied to be a member of the Astronaut Corps while working for NASA. I left NASA after receiving a Ph.D. in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering because I wanted to be a teacher to influence the lives of young people. I enjoy being a role model, tutor and mentor. I come from a family with a lot of teachers.

I started teaching in 1983 at Old Dominion University. I taught there for 33 years, until I retired in 2016. After retirement, I taught high school physics for 3 years. I still have a yearning for teaching and imparting my knowledge to others. I have written 20 inspirational and children's books.
My hobbies include carpentry, photography and writing. I am developing online classes for children, which is consistent with my love for teaching. These classes include: Fun with Photography for Kids, Fun with Chess for Kids, Fun with Robotics for Kids, Fun with Engineering for Kids, Fun with Science for Kids, Fun with Botany for Kids, Fun with Math for Kids and Fun with Authoring a Book for Kids.
I can help my tutorees in a variety of areas. My professional experience is comprehensive. My main goal is to make learning fun by using hands-on applications. I look forward to serving my tutorees!
I tell people that math is like a dessert for me. I have even solved math problems in my dreams and awaken to write down a solution... believe it or not! I have taught math through the undergraduate and graduate college level. On the other hand, my wife and I owned and operated a daycare center for 10 years... from 1997 to 2007. One fall, our kindergarten teacher took maternity leave. I stepped in and taught all subjects to the kindergarten class, including math.
So, I have taught math at all levels... from preschool and kindergarten students to Ph.D. students. I know why a certain math skill is being taught and its practical applications. I would love to have you as a student!
