Greetings! My name is Colleen, and I'm thrilled to say this is my 25th year teaching high school English. I grew up in Savannah, GA and graduated with a BA in English Literature from Randolph-Macon Woman's College and a MEd in Educational Leadership from Georgia Southern University. I'm in central Minnesota now, and, yes, the weather is snowy most of winter but definitely beautiful all year round.

Over the years, I have actively sought training and hold various certifications in Advanced Placement (AP) College Board, International Baccalaureate (IB), Phil Schlechty's Working on the Work (WOW), the National Urban Alliance (NUA), and Habits of the Mind. This year, I am teaching English 9, Honors English 9, and Science Fiction & Fantasy Literature to juniors and seniors. Outside of the classroom, I am the advisor to the Creative Writing Club at my high school. We meet Thursdays after school and even publish the campus literary magazine. My students inspire me daily, so I wrote the club's motto: All Skills, All Stories, All Students.

As for tutoring, I have over 25 years experience mentoring students one-to-one. I am an educational advocate and have tutored students who range from laser-focused goals to students with no clear direction yet. Whether college-bound or preparing for the world of work, I meet students where their skills are, evaluate their needs, and help them build a plan for success. I tutor both at libraries and online, and most of my students seek help in writing, revising, public speaking, and ACT English and ACT Reading prep.
