About Renee

Bio

I am a secondary English and history teacher with over 20 years of professional experience teaching grades 9-12. I have also taught middle school and elementary grades.

I love to teach and to see students learn and be able to use what they have learned. I have been successful not only in the classroom, but also in one-on-one tutoring. My students consistently test above grade level in reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary on standardized tests. My eleventh grade students...

I am a secondary English and history teacher with over 20 years of professional experience teaching grades 9-12. I have also taught middle school and elementary grades.

I love to teach and to see students learn and be able to use what they have learned. I have been successful not only in the classroom, but also in one-on-one tutoring. My students consistently test above grade level in reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary on standardized tests. My eleventh grade students consistently test post-high school in the aforementioned areas, and almost all graduates test out of basic grammar and composition in college. I have helped the students whom I tutor raise their reading comprehension scores on the SAT an average of 90 points as well as raising their writing (grammar) scores by 70 points.

My method of teaching and tutoring include mastery of basic skills such as grammar and syntax, using those skills to improve one's writing. In addition, I teach my students how to properly respond to an essay question, how to prepare to answer the question, and how to format the answer to a question within the time allowed by the SAT. My approach to reading comprehension is to teach students what to look for when reading a passage and how to decide what response is correct from what they has read.

Renee is an EXCELLENT Tutor

Despite months of weekly tutoring leading up to the March 2014 SAT, my daughter's scores were very disappointing and it was clear we needed a new preparation approach for the upcoming SAT in June.
