I love to teach history, I love to teach about different civilizations' cultures, economies, gender roles, government structures, religious beliefs, scientific achievements, etc... I am irresistibly compelled to help people to understand the world we live in by gaining a better understanding of its past in all of its aspects. In short, I have a passion for my subject that is infectious. I've earned a BA in Political Science and Masters degree in History, I spent nine years teaching history at Rider University and Delaware County Community College, and I am currently an instructor affiliated with Widener University and Immaculata University. My approach to teaching involves bringing clarity to complex topics and not assuming any prior knowledge on the part of a student of the subject in question. Because I find virtually every period in history, every location on the globe, and every aspect of human society interesting, I have developed a very broad knowledge base. I can bring the subject of history alive.

Education: I earned a BA in Political Science from West Chester University in 1986 and a Masters in History from Temple University in 1994. Experience: I worked as a history teacher at Delaware County Community College from 1999 to 2009 and currently am working for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute program as a teacher. Among the courses that I've repeatedly taught are U.S. History, Parts 1 and 2, Western Civilization, Parts 1 and 2, and the U.S. Civil War era (1840-70). Dozens of my articles have been published in both professional journals and commercial magazines.
Classics,

Classics

My lifelong study of history, including my work in earning a BA in Political Science and a Masters in History, has enabled me to develop a solid understanding of the civilizations of Ancient Greece and Rome, the foundation of Western Civilization. I have read extensively on and taught about the history of archaic and Classical Greece, the Hellenistic Age, and Republican and Imperial Rome. This includes the various aspects of these civilizations: their social and political orders, their religious beliefs and practices, their economies, their art, architecture, theater, literature, and intellectual achievements. In fact, I'm currently teaching a course on the decline and fall of the Roman Empire.

Having earned a Masters in History and taught U.S. History, Western Civilization, and World History courses in my nine years at Delaware County Community College, I learned a great deal about the major religions - their origins, theology, evolution, different branches, and, of course, their role in historical events. This includes the various Pagan Faiths (Egypt, Greece and Rome, Celtic and Germanic peoples), Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, the Sikh Faith, and Taoism. Moreover, raised Catholic, I attended religion classes through elementary and high school and, in my travels, have visited churches, mosques, and temples in Europe (including Turkey), Peru, Egypt, India, and Nepal.

Excellent and Engaging Tutor

Paul deeply cares about his students' learning. He came very well prepared and brought so much into the session, providing insights about the subject while also listening and allowing me to add to the points that are being discussed. He was very knowledgeable about history and the World's Fairs which was the subject of my paper. Thank you Paul for being an excellent tutor!

Great Subject knowledge and Patience

Paul has been an incredible help to me this past semester as I was taking an art-history course and was struggling with the material and the professor teaching the course. I knew the only way I would pass this class was to teach myself the material, but after receiving a 67 on the first midterm, I knew I needed help. Hence, the week before the second exam, I met with nearly five different tutors. They all helped, but I decided to schedule more meetings with Paul. Paul made every concept easy to understand, prepared with notes to help me, and took the time to make sure I understood the material and let me ask questions when needed. He was great to work with, went at a good pace, and understood that I had very little background knowledge to work with. In the end, I got an 83 on the second exam and ended the class with a B average, something I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to do without Paul's help. Highly recommend him to anyone seeking help with History/Art History.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

He is a remarkably kind and patient tutor. He takes the lessons very seriously and is also adaptive. When I offered a suggestion to make the lesson better, he took it seriously and adopted it in his next lesson. I waited for a few months to write the review so that the review will be more accurate. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to take history lessons.

Knowledgeable and Patient.

Paul helped me with questions for a class I am taking for my Master of Science degree in Church Management. Paul is knowledgeable, patient and resourceful. He was open to me asking questions and talking through anything I did not understand. I would definitely refer him and use him again!

Very knowlegable in World History

Paul helped my 15 yr old daughter with her research paper. Paul was very nice and always on time. My daughter enjoyed working with him. We will definitely use Paul again. My only negative was he likes to talk and goes off on tangents about history that takes away from time that they could be working on topic on hand. I believe that is because he is very passionate about this subject. Overall he was a great tutor and will definitely use again in the future

Helpfull, knowledgeable, patient, and nice !

Paul is a very nice patient tutor that would help you through all your areas of struggles and motivate you to do better. If you need help with an assuagement he is the best! Because he will not only help you understand it and get it done, but also, he will give you feedback and comments on it ( which are very helpful). You will be very lucky to have Paul as your tutor. He really did help me a lot with my class :)
