My desire to help people is the strongest motivator of the work I have done during the course of my professional career. This was the reason I joined Peer Health Exchange (PHE); a national organization that trains college students to teach health workshops in low-income schools. Specifically, I discussed how to speak and listen effectively and gave students the resources to take care of their mental health. This has given me incredible interpersonal and communication skills. Shortly after this I joined Lab Advocacy; an organization which gives low-income students the skills to advocate for their own rights and the rights of others. I experienced first-hand, the degree to which people can flourish when given the correct resources.

Currently, I am a private SAT, ACT, creative writing, ELA, and English tutor. In addition I am a member of MADSCIENCE, and work for them as a science instructor. I also lead a monthly creative writing workshop in order to help kids express themselves through the written word.

It is my honor to embark on a journey of knowledge with any student. If you want someone who is dedicated, has an individual approach, is upbeat and loves what she does, you should select me to be your tutor.

ESL/ESOL,

ESL/ESOL

I have my students keep journals everyday so we can improve the way they string ideas together and also note what grammar lessons must be planned. I also have them bring in an interesting video, newspaper article, ect so we can begin to discuss themes in America culture and start a discussion on our different cultures. I can test your ESL level if you do not know it so I always have solid sense of what I am starting with. Depending on the level and personality type of my students informs the way our lessons will progress. My approach is ALWAYS individual and always dedicated to making your English learning experience fun and interesting.

Elementary (K-6th)

In my journey as a babysitter I have had to keep up with the schooling and homework of my children. This has included elementary (K-6th). I have an Aunt who is an elementary school teacher and so I have become her apprentice in a way. I know how to train kids for their state tests (like the ELA) and have fun grammar, spelling, test taking skills, math, history, science and brain improvement activity games in my repertoire. On top of real life experience (in and out of the classroom with kids of all ages and various abilities) I am a certified PHE (Peer Health Exchange) member currently in the SHE position. I can also relate to kids on a very genuine level which makes them WANT to learn. I try to give children skills that they will carry with them throughout their school life and beyond.

I am a member of MADSCIENCE. It is my job to help spark the imagination and curiosity of children by providing them with fun, interactive and educational programs that instill a clear understanding of what science is, and how it affects their world.
Study Skills,

Study Skills

I don't treat students as a general formula to be calculated. Instead I take the time to understand the specific strengths and weaknesses of my students learning. I can provide good study skills for all types of learners; auditory, visual, or tactile. I provide a trial run; during which I observe how the student studies. Through my observations I am then able to develop a student specific approach on enhancing study skills.

A great history tutor is a great story teller. I have the knowledge base and enthusiasm to make history jump from the pages of a textbook into the imagination of young students. Through a discussion of the events that unfolded and emotional reflections on such events I get students to learn and LOVE history.

Highly Recommended!

Alexandra worked with our daughter on English and Math. Alexandra identified her strengths and weaknesses, clarified concepts when it was needed, and challenged her as soon as a topic was mastered. I highly reccomend Alexandra, her commitment to our daughter's education has been an incredible resource.

Great tutor

Alexandra was wonderful. She helped my daughter prepare for the SAT test. She always came prepared with a lesson plan. Gave my daughter the "tricks" of the questions. I would highly recommend her!

Very Creative and loving!

Alexandra was very creative on my son's reading and writing lesson. My son(8 1/2 year old) always loves to have lessons with her. Last week, they made a writing book after we came back from Disney world, the content was real and interesting. I never recognized that my son could remember so many details, and I was very touched that he had a such wonderful, memorable trip with me. I could read his heart through his writing. We are very lucky to have her as my son's tutor!
