About Kristen

Bio

I'm an enthusiastic professor of Spanish and Russian. I have a BS and MS in Russian and I studied in St. Petersburg Russia. I have a BS in Spanish. I have Spanish-speaking family members and I studied in Spain. I have taught in the US, Russia and Spain. I have done medical interpretation in South America.

I'm an enthusiastic professor of Spanish and Russian. I have a BS and MS in Russian and I studied in St. Petersburg Russia. I have a BS in Spanish. I have Spanish-speaking family members and I studied in Spain. I have taught in the US, Russia and Spain. I have done medical interpretation in South America.

I have over 20 years of teaching experience in high schools and universities. In high school, I taught all levels of Spanish. At the university level, I taught Spanish, created a university level Medical Spanish for Nurses course, and I created all the university courses for and taught Russian classes from introductory freshman-level up to advanced senior-level courses.

My passion is showing students that language acquisition is possible and how to do it with tried and true methodology. I can help out students who need anything from a little confirmation of their understanding to a complete reteaching from the ground up. I also offer language conversation and practice to employ knowledge already learned. I am experienced with online teaching and tutoring.

Language can be simplified and tailored to a student's learning style. I have seen my previous students excel around the world. Life is exciting and I like to impart enthusiasm and hope to all of my students as I help them acquire the ability to speak a new language.

I love helping students with language acquisition! I studied in Russia at the Herzen State Pedagogical University, Middlebury College and I have a Masters from UVA. I developed and taught all of the Russian language courses at a university beginning in 2013 and by 2016 had created all the courses from level 101 to level 497. I trained and mentored all the university students. I analyzed and selected the optimal curriculum to help the students acquire the Russian quickly. I later went on to manage an international company's Russian Youtube channel as a social media analyst interacting with the Russian-speaking online viewers and contracting and working with the script translators. I like discovering a student's strengths to help them succeed!
