Lifesaver!

Gigi, is my HERO!!! She saves people's lives at work in the medical field and at night she helps save people that are applying for jobs and need help analyzing data for a project! This was my first night using wyzant and someone else tried to help me but gave up after 5 mins, she came on and was incredible! She was very personable and great at multitasking. We had a meaningful conversation while she was working her magic on my data sheet. I can't express how thankful I am, you saved me HOURS of work!

Constructive Feedback for a New Tutor

"I initially considered giving Geraldine a one-star rating after our class, but realizing she's new to tutoring on Wyzant and that I was only her third student, I've decided to be more lenient. A three-star rating seems fair and merciful, acknowledging her room for improvement. The main issue was the setup at the beginning of our session. Geraldine struggled with her devices, taking about 5 minutes to open the CSV and Excel files I sent, followed by another 15 minutes attempting to share her screen, unfortunately without success. When we finally began the Excel work, I encountered some resistance to my suggestions, which hindered our progress. Nearly 45 minutes into the session, it became clear that we were struggling with the Excel task. I resorted to searching for solutions on Google and watching related technical YouTube videos by me own, and after about another 20min, we completed the task seperateily. However, it's concerning that 20 minutes were spent on technical setup and screen-sharing issues, and the remaining 40 minutes were not as productive as they could have been. My main advice for Geraldine is to improve her technical setup and be more open to suggestions. For context, our task involved recording student attendance into a grading table. The official grading table uses first and last names separately as keys, but our attendance sheet had combined names, some with middle names and others shortened for convenience. I suggested using conditional formatting to focus on last names, as students often abbreviate these. However, Geraldine persisted with a VLOOKUP approach for the full name combination, which took 40 minutes. My method of conditional formatting achieved the same result in just 15 minutes. In summary, while Geraldine has potential, she needs to enhance her technical preparedness and willingness to consider alternative approaches suggested by students."
