I have been an instructor of biological sciences since 2002, and I love it!
I earned my bachelor’s degree in chemistry and my master’s work is in behavioral medicine, both from the University of the Pacific. I earned my doctorate in neuroscience, specializing in spinal cord injury repair at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Finally, I completed my post-doctoral training, specializing in traumatic brain injury, at UC Davis. I also have my single-subject CBEST credential.
I have explored different career opportunities in education, but none of them feed my soul like the classroom. So I taught biology, anatomy, and physiology at the college level for 20 years. I have also taught high school, tutored, and taught privately one-on-one. Additionally, I am comfortable working both f2f and online.
I use the Socratic method of teaching to actively engage learners in their education. I also adapt my teaching to complement my students’ learning styles to maximize understanding in a way that works with them. My number one priority is making sure that my students learn from me when we are working together, and learn how to approach new material when they are on their own
