Hello, my name is Riley and I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, accompanied by minors in Thermal Energy Systems and Business. I have always had a passion for math and science, whether it's learning or teaching. In taking various math and science courses, I believe a key component to my success was the ability to understand what I don't understand. I have found that asking the right questions, sometimes often very fundamental and simple, and building upon that is often the best way truly understand a specific subject matter. I also always found it very helpful to understand where a specific topic may be used in the real world and not just simply be presented as a problem in a textbook. Thus, my teaching approach will always try to incorporate where a student may see or use this subject matter again in the future.

I have previously tutored Algebra I for a group of about ten 8th graders periodically for two years where we would go over what they learned in class, clear up any discrepancies, and work through some problems. Additionally, while in college I tutored students one-on-one in Calculus I & II, each for a semester. Although I have only tutored for these two subject matters, I feel comfortable tutoring for a variety of STEM courses. Specifically, within the Mechanical Engineering curriculum I've gained mastery skills in courses such as Statics, Physics (Newtonian Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism), Differential Equations, Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer. Within all these courses I have been engaged with the underlying mathematics and science (both basic and advanced), giving me a very broad background knowledge covering most STEM courses. At an advanced high school level, I have experience with and have also passed the following AP courses: Physics B, Calculus AB, Chemistry, English Literature, Microeconomics.

My goal is to help struggling and motivated students truly understand the subjects of math and science and their applicati
