Hi I'm Alison! My journey in teaching began in high school tutoring summer school Spanish language classes and grew during college at Rutgers University where I tutored organic chemistry and genetics while carrying a full class load and competing as a Division 1 athlete. I went on to get my master's degree in biomedical sciences where I continued to tutor various science topics including biochemistry and genetics. I completed medical school and now practice as a board-certified neurologist where I teach medical students and residents every day in basic science, anatomy, physiology, and even psychiatry. Not only do I understand navigating the long road of pre-med, but I also appreciate juggling a schedule of work and sports. I am accustomed to using a variety of methods in my instruction including power points, book chapters, group brain-storming, and hands-on bedside teaching.

I love to teach. I appreciate that different students have unique ways of understanding, learning, and taking tests. Finding a different way of looking at a tough concept is my specialty. We will not move on until you feel like you have mastered the material. I will encourage you and leave plenty of time for you to ask me all of your questions. You will go into your quiz, final, practical, or lab with confidence and feeling as though you can now teach someone the topic yourself! The most important things to me are that you walk away with an understanding and hopefully all an appreciation for the fascinating world of science and medicine. Let me help you exceed your goals for this semester!

I have both a masters and doctorate degree in biology and medicine, respectively.
I am Neurology/psychiatry board certified, I practice clinically and teach medical students, residents, and fellows every day.
I have 15 years of tutoring experience in the sciences.

Schedule a lesson or reach out to find out more about why you and I would make a great team to help you exceed your goals for this semester!
