Dear Prospective Student,

Why choose me as your tutor? If you want results, I'll get them for you. Let me know what your goals are, and I'll lay out the plan and the options to get you there. I've worked with CEO's, the FBI, Major sports teams, actors, and students from the top preparatory schools and colleges.

I have a Master's Degree in Spanish Literature, Linguistics, and Civilization, as well as over a decade of tutoring and teaching experience, working with people of all ages, and from all over the world. I have worked with high school students, community college students, as well as Harvard graduates.

I specialize in tutoring Spanish. I do not tutor Spanish with income as the primary motive, although that is a factor; I tutor Spanish because I want to see student succeed at the highest level in a discipline that has been rewarding and very pleasurable for me. I would like to share an academic and a personal experience with my students, hoping that they too will have a positive experience with Spanish, and not a frustrating one. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on how to teach Spanish and have since spoke at conferences on the matter. I will be going to Spain again for academic related purposes and only wish to share my experiences and my knowledge with the students with whom I work.

I have worked and taught at the pre-school, primary, secondary (junior high and high school), and post-secondary (college) level.

I am a linguist and a scholar who highly values education. I specialize in Second Language Acquisition, and I've worked largely with students learning Spanish and ESL.

I have also worked with English composition and literature students at the post-secondary (college) level. I have tutored students in Geometry, Algebra, Reading Comprehension, Standardized Test Preparation, and Study Skills.

I have taught or tutored at Cal-Poly, Mt. SAC, and Chaffey College. I was a high school teacher to Spanish sophomores in Inglewood. I have also worked with students in grades 1 through 6, as I was the direc

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I began my foray into public speaking as a young adult. I was involved in Mock Trial, a program that encourages young adults to explore their speaking and analytical abilities in the courtroom. In Mock Trial, students study a case book and argue the case in a real courtroom in front of a real judge. Furthermore, I have presented original research and literary-based research at two academic conferences, as well as having given many formal presentations throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies. I have also taught to groups of people here and abroad. I have taught to adults and young children. I have been a teacher for many years, so I am comfortable with public speaking. Additionally, I recently did public speaking for a large company, assisting them with their Human Resources trainings. I also attended a conference that encourages High Performance and leadership and touched upon some of the strategies that public speakers use to stay engaged with their audience. I have also worked with many career counselors as to interview strategies and have been involved with many successful interviews myself. I would be pleased to help someone in their public speaking journey.

I am a member of the IAPWE (International Association of Professional Writers and Editors). I have given a formal speech to an audience of 400 people at an annual conference. I have worked as a writing consultant. I have proofread as one of my duties at various jobs, including law offices. I have worked with countless students, improving their understanding of comma usage, sentence structure, essay structure, and essay organization. I have helped non-native English speakers access a UCLA education and get into graduate school. I am happy to see you grow in your confidence as a writer. The written word is a powerful medium. Spanish

I have a Master's Degree in Spanish Literature, Linguistics, and Civilization. I have mastered Spanish as an academic discipline and have a thorough understanding of the grammar and how it should be taught. I can anticipate student questions and understand that each student has a unique learning style. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on how to teach Spanish as a second language. During my undergraduate years, I helped many of my classmates with their understanding of Spanish as well as revised their Spanish essays. I later became a Spanish teacher at an Inglewood High School, teaching Spanish to Natives and Non-Natives of Spanish. I also worked at a local college in the Success Center, providing supplemental instruction in Spanish, as well as one-on-one tutoring. During my very early years, I earned a "5" on the AP Exam, thus I am familiar with the exam. I also earned the Bank of America Award for Excellence in Spanish and am very familiar with the strategies that are used to create an effective Spanish program. Books I recommend: 1. Adelante 1 and 2 are well organized (The workbook section, however, needs work) 2. A 501 Spanish verbs type book 3. Webster's New World Spanish Dictionary 4. Easy Spanish Reader

I have taught students how to begin the essay writing process and how to see it though to its end. It is important to learn how to develop an outline that structures essays. Most students are not taught how to formally write. Formal writing seems difficult at times, but doesn’t have to be out of reach. With the right guidance and tools, any challenge can be met with grace. A great book to refer to is: Writing to Communicate.
