Hi, I'm Mike. I have about 8 years of professional experience as a software engineer at a variety of technology-focused companies, including Amazon, Walmart, and various start-ups. Throughout my career, I've had many opportunities to mentor new engineers, and I've also taught experienced people new technologies. I love seeing the people I work with reach their goals and become more productive. I'm a full stack developer with experience in many different programming languages and environments, and I'm happy to work with anyone who is interested in learning to code. That said, I can go deeper with JavaScript, and I can show you how to be an expert front-end developer with React or Angular. I can also teach you how to use Flutter to build cross-platform apps.

While a college curriculum on computer science is extremely useful for software development, there are some important considerations for writing code in a business environment that aren't usually taught in school. For example, code that's used for a school assignment is usually never changed after it's written, but code for a business often has to be updated later to account for changing business priorities. Also, it's crucial that other engineers can understand everyone else's code. I can teach you how to do this and help you land a job as a software engineer.

I prefer to learn by doing, and I want to empower my students to do the same. I'll work with you to come up with a project you'll be motivated to build, whether that's a website, a game, or an app idea. Then we can tailor our lessons to make sure you get the skills you need to complete that project and gain that confidence in your ability as a software engineer.
