I am a bay area graduate (UC Berkeley) who has loved the learning process all my life. I have used my math and science skills throughout my engineering career, and enjoy engaging others in the learning process. Seeing a student smile as they begin to understand a difficult topic is very rewarding.

I specialize in tutoring chemistry, math, and physics to help students achieve success in school, and on the various standardized tests. My goal is not only to help the student learn, but create an interest in the subject as well, as I have found that interest and curiosity are the best motivators. I try to challenge students to do their best, without overwhelming them.

I expect the best from myself, and I will not charge for any lesson with which the student, or parent is not completely satisfied.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am currently working with three students who have moderate/severe autism. These students point to letters/symbols on a board to communicate with a communication partner. I am also working with one student to become the communication partner, currently using air prompts in combination with the communication board.

Very thorough and understanding (written by my son)

I have been tutoring with Clark for Organic chemistry for a few months now, and am very happy to be learning from him. He is very knowledgeable on the subject and if I ask him to go over a certain part he goes into detail regarding that part. He knows how much to go into and asks me if I want more detail requiring certain parts. Organic chemistry is a hard subject which requires lots of memorization, so if there are any parts which require memorization he will go over them and then relegates the rest to myself to memorization which I like. Also certain parts of organic chemistry require spatial thinking and being able to rotate 3 dimensional objects in your head. He is really good with this, but I am not. So certain things he tells me do not stick since this is hard for me, so my solution was to bring a modelling kit and use that. When presented with the kit he then uses it and shows me how the rotations work so he is really good with improvising learning with material. All together, he is really good tutor for chemistry (general, and AP as well as organic) and physics, since when explaining certain things in chemistry like bonding, I can tell he is also very knowledgeable in physics as well. So I would highly recommend Clark for these subjects because he is really good with these subjects and is able to adapt to different student's learning approaches.

Works well with teens

My son thinks Clark is way better in communicating Chemistry than his regular teacher. He has been really helpful and he is easy to schedule with. We have appreciated working with him.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Thank you Clark for accommodating us last minute! Our son said you answered his questions right away which helped him understand his school work easier. He praised your teaching style and is looking forward to working with you again in the future!

Great First Session

We were able to cover a good amount of material and we covered it in depth. Very easy to understand and comprehend. After I left, I thought to myself, "man, if i had to go through those sections myself and try to teach myself the nomenclature, I would've been doing it for hours, I probably would've been making a lot of mistakes, and I certainly would be confused about a lot of the rules." Clarke took what would take me many hours and something that I would've been confused by and compressed it into 2 hours worth of material in a very simple, straight forward, and easy to understand method.

Knowledgeable and patient

Clark reviewed a few concepts to ensure understanding and explained some new concepts. He was very articulate, patient and was able to answer and help me understand very well.

Kavitha, 7 lessons with Clark

Makes it clear- patient and understands subject matter!

Clark is a very good teacher - who takes the time to go step by step and review missing links in the area of need. I have really moved in the knowledge of math-as I am prepping for a test.

Explains well

We went through the textbook we'll be using and charted a small lesson plan going forward. Has many good examples and explanations. I'll be working with him more methodically for a while

Knowlageable and patient tutor

This review is based on my first class. I found Mr. Clark very helpful and straight to the point. I was able to understand what he taught and the way he worded things was very easy for me to grasp.

Knowledgeable, friendly, patient and punctual.

Clark went over some basic math principle; vocabulary, percentages, fractions, and the number line . He was able to teach me some really great mathematical strategies for figuring out percentages . I would highly recommend Clark .
