I am an incoming student at the University of Chicago. I recently graduated Phillips Academy Andover (ranked the #1 private school in the US). I am an incoming student at the University of Chicago. I recently graduated Phillips Academy Andover (ranked the #1 private school in the US). In Fall 2022, my independent research paper on Military Intelligence was published in The Concord Review (the only journal in the world to publish history research papers from high school students, publication rate: 5%). Over the last three years, I tutored students at my high school in Math, Computer Science, and Writing (English & History). In terms of test scores, I scored a 5 in the AP Calc BC, AP Computer Science, and AP Statistics exams in my junior year. I also scored a 1570 on the SAT, which I completely self-studied for. I have work, academic, and independent experience in computer science, such as an internship for the MITRE Corporation, a student at MIT’s Beaver Works Summer Institute, and building various websites. One thing I strive for when teaching coursework is to explain subjects such that the students feel like they could’ve discovered the conclusion themselves. Besides just solving a problem in a problem set, I strive to make sure the student understands the underlying concept itself before continuing to the rest of the problems. When it comes to writing academic papers such as the Concord Review, I emphasize extensive research and concise writing. For college applications, I was accepted into both the University of Chicago and Brown University during the regular decision round (UChi RD rate: <4.4%; Brown RD rate: 3.9%), and I had submitted video portfolios for both schools. I will help students create their videos by (1) getting to know the student on a personal level (2) brainstorming and developing ideas together (3) working through multiple iterations until the student is both satisfied and proud with the video. I can also help students with other aspects of the college application process. Please reach out with any questions and we can try to curate lessons suited to your needs.
