I am a PhD student studying Statistics. I dabbled in Data Science at Columbia University in the City of New York after graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics and a focus in Statistics from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, obtaining a 4.0 in my major. While an undergrad, I worked through the University as a resource center counselor, in-class learning assistant, honors teaching assistant for Calculus II, and advanced grader for Real Analysis and Modern Algebra courses. I also worked with high school students and graduating seniors knocking out their last math requirement before graduate school.

Something all my clients tell me is that I make things easy to understand. Whereas in class, they often times find themselves confused and unable to keep up with a complex lecture, I am told that my way of explaining things is somehow more basic and accessible than others.

I received an A in every math class I took at the undergraduate level--and because of the mastery I obtained through the hours of studying and reviewing, as well as the years of experience I have in tutoring every topic up to and including Multivariable Calculus and several subjects beyond, I am the ideal tutor for someone who wants to see the challenging concepts they are learning in a simple, non-intimidating light much more conducive to learning.

I tutor the math sections of the GRE, SAT, and ACT; SAT I and SAT II Math subject tests.

I pride myself in the value I bring into a student's learning experience. Thus, I am always open to any resources or suggestions unique to an individual student's needs. I respond quickly to all inquiries and am very easy to work with. Feel free to contact me with any further questions or to schedule a lesson!

"...was a GRE GOD... he was amazing with quant. After only one 3 hour session with him, I was able to improve my score by 5 points. I was incredibly happy."

GRE

I obtained a perfect score on the GRE Quantitative section and I know firsthand the doors that can open as a result from a good GRE score. The admissions officers at Columbia strongly implied that the reason I was accepted to their Data Science program was my exemplary GRE score. I have been tutoring the GRE Quantitative section for over a year and have helped students get grades as high as 168 out of 170; good enough to get into Harvard Business School for the student I helped! Because of my experience and expertise, I am confident that I can provide the very best instruction available anywhere for the GRE, and my students will tell you the same thing!

The BEST!

It doesn’t get any better than Michael for Calculus and Statistics classes. Michael has tutored me for 3 semesters (Calculus I and Statistics I and II. If only I found him earlier my first semester, I would have all As.

Extremely helpful. Very experienced.

Micheal came through at the last minute and was extremely knowledgeable about the materials. Was also professional. Worth every penny. Highly recommended Best tutor I had.

Best tutor EVER!!!

My daughter has been working with Michael and she is becoming more comfortable with the material. Lots of “Aha!” moments and she feels more confident after each session! Thank you Michael!

Very Patient

Michael was very patient when trying to get together. Initially there were a lot of technicals issue our first day which caused us to have to reschedule. The following day we went over my practice test and through Michael’s guidance I began to realize the silly errors I had made. He stresses the importance of honing in on the details of solving problems. These are the score killers. Looking forward to the homework and eclipsing that 160 mark in quant.

Math wiz makes tutoring sessions fun

I was hesitant about getting a private tutor when I first started preparing for the GRE but was immediately pleased with my decision after my first session with Michael. I needed someone who was very strong in math but also genuinely enjoys the subject. Michael has been able to help me learn multiple methods for solving even the most difficult math problems, walking me through them until I feel I know them like the back of my hand. He's also been helpful in developing my long term study plan and short term homework assignments, something that was key in my tutor selection. Couldn't recommend him more.

Michael was a terrific tutor!

Michael was great: friendly, patient, and excellent at explaining concepts in Statistics. My son found the one-hour session very helpful, and said that Michael explained the material more clearly than my son's teacher at his private school had explained it. Michael worked with my son to prepare for two upcoming tests, and now my son feels much more comfortable with the material. In addition, Micahel came to our home on the day after I contacted him. That was important because my son felt an urgency here. Michael responds immediately to e-mails and couldn't be nicer in all his communications. I can't offer enough compliments to Michael. Thank you to Michael!

Outstanding Tutor

Michael is an amazing tutor who works with you thoroughly to make sure the lesson is understood. His response time is fast and is open to answering any questions or concerns. I 100% recommend him for your next tutoring session

Flexible and knowledgeable

Michael helped me prep for a Statistics test that I was completely lost on in a week and a half. His patience and willingness to explain what were probably menial concepts were immensely helpful. Would absolutely recommend.
