Most of my experience is teaching in a classroom setting, however I have tutored more over the last 2 years. I enjoy using a variety of teaching styles to present material in engaging ways. This also helps with enabling students to recall information /concepts. After introducing the concepts, I make sure to allow for student practice with help and modeling available, then the student will practice independently to concretize learning. Review of previously learned material is also important...

One of the best parts of tutoring is the one on one interaction. It is much easier and quicker to check for student comprehension. With tutoring, I also like the ability to change up how I am teaching right away if student comprehension is not happening.
I have 18 years teaching experience at the elementary school level. I have teacher certification in grades PreK - 6. I am familiar with all subject areas. I have even been voted Teacher of the Year!
I homeschooled my own children at three points in their education, and I most recently taught/tutored a homeschooled student all of the last school year.
During my public school teaching experience, I have gained much knowledge and experience with teaching children with a variety of special needs ranging from: teaching a bilingual classroom (Spanish), being an Inclusion teacher ( A variety of special needs students mainstreamed through my class - Including ASD) to most recently teaching an Emotionally Disturbed student who could not function in a typical school setting.
I am all about helping the student to learn and retain concepts, so I welcome any parent and student tips about how they best learn and if there are any resources that are recommended.
