I am a biologist in the pharmaceutical industry who has been teaching at the college level and tutoring at multiple levels for the past 10 years. I have a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Missouri - St. Louis and a Master's degree in Biology from Washington University. I have taught Biology, Microbiology, and Anatomy & Physiology at the college level, and have tutored in Biology, Genetics, Ecology, and related subjects.

I am unique as a tutor because I have real-world experience in the sciences, having been a bench scientist for many years, working in the Pharmaceutical industry as a process development professional. That combined with my teaching experience allows me to bring a unique perspective to my interactions with students.

My approach to tutoring varies based on the student needs, but in general I am a visual teacher, I frequently use Whiteboard Fox or other online drawing tools to help my students understand key concepts, and in person I always carry pads of paper as I like to illustrate my points. I frequently will devise quizzes and problems to challenge my students.

Genetics

I work in the biotherapeutics industry and have in-depth experience with genetics. I have expertise in biotechnological techniques, including recombinant DNA, plasmids, and transcription to mRNA. I have taught genetics problems for over 10 years and really enjoy helping students understand and solve both Mendelian and non-Mendelian genetics problems.
