I am a dual certified teacher with 26 years experience in teaching high school and community college. I specialize in writing process and ESL. I am currently a high school teacher, teaching English 12 and ESL English to students new to the U.S. I have an undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and a graduate degree in TESOL( teaching English to speakers of other languages) from McDaniel College. I speak English, German, French( un petit peau) and am learning Spanish. I have taught in both Maryland and in Virginia. I taught in Munich, Germany as well.

I enjoy tutoring because I think the one-to-one instruction is most beneficial. I also like to diagnose a writer's common errors and build skills from that so that the writer, independently, learns to incorporate strong language skills. I also taught AP Language and Composition for 5 years and enjoy the work from this course as well.

My current tutoring students would say that I am fun and energetic, as well as devoted to helping them grow and improve. I have worked with many students attending college who are second language students and who struggle with being overwhelmed with assignments in English classes. I have also worked with students who are applying for scholarships to help pay for college. Additionally, I work often with students who are writing essay to apply to competitive colleges. I work well with adults, too, who struggle to write well in the business community and would like help sounding more professional.
