Bio

I'm Taylor-Grey and I've been tutoring logic and related subject matter for nearly a decade. I've had a couple of years experience tutoring ACT and GRE test prep as well as the LSAT and philosophy/logic more generally. I find tutoring to be immensely satisfying. I am organized and clear in the way that I explain things and hope to be able to help you!

I'm Taylor-Grey and I've been tutoring logic and related subject matter for nearly a decade. I've had a couple of years experience tutoring ACT and GRE test prep as well as the LSAT and philosophy/logic more generally. I find tutoring to be immensely satisfying. I am organized and clear in the way that I explain things and hope to be able to help you!

I teach all levels of logic and philosophy courses and pride myself on my high student pass rates in my course. No student that has come to me for help has left without feeling they understand things much better than when they started.

With skill in philosophy comes skill in reading comprehension and verbal reasoning. I scored perfectly on the ACT English section both times I took the test, and I scored a 174 on the LSAT (despite the fact that I decided against law school). I've also had experience tutoring students from when I worked with Kaplan.

Much of my doctoral research deals heavily with the formal tools and issues confronted in semantics. I have taken graduate courses in syntax and formal semantics in the Linguistics program at UT Austin (I have two courses remaining before completing a linguistics MA). I have extensive background in working with categorial grammar, heim and kratzer style generative grammar, an a variety of semantic frameworks (possible worlds, DRT, truthmaker semantics, semantics in a generative grammar). I have even helped run a semantics bootcamp summer workshop.

I took the LSAT and scored a 175 but decided to do a PhD in philosophy instead. My dissertation focuses on logic, so I have strong logical reasoning skills. I am very skilled at argument representation and dissecting logic games given my logic expertise. I also have extensive background (4 years) in tutoring and instructing logic courses. Taylor knows his semantics!

Taylor has been helping me with formal semantics. He started out explaining why I wasn't getting it, which really encouraged me. He is super patient, making sure I understand before moving on. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing!

I have been struggling with understanding my current professor in Formal Logic. He isn’t the best at breaking things down into easily digestible pieces. Taylor has done exactly that! He was great at explaining the rules, how, and why we use them. I thought maybe I wasn’t capable of understanding formal logic, now I know that isn’t even close to the case.
