Trying to improve your SAT Verbal score? Looking to prepare for the US History or AP Lang & Lit Tests? Mystified by your English or History class? Need to improve your score on the ToEFL test? Are you writing an essay or applying to college and need guidance? Just need someone to look over that final draft? Well, look no further!

My name is Rob, and I am a National Board Certified teacher, trained in both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate methods, with over 18 years of classroom-teaching experience. I have a breadth of experience that spans from teaching writing workshops for students with ADHD to guitar lessons, and I've taught ages ranging from kindergarten to adults. I am currently located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and wherever you are, I would love to be the tutor that helps you (or your student) reach your ultimate academic potential!

I began teaching in 2003 after graduating from a specialty teaching program at Texas State University in San Marcos, and I've always worked hard to stay at the forefront of both technology and methodology. I developed and for ten years ran a college readiness/test-prep program at one of the highest-ranked high schools in Austin, Texas. While running my program, I collected data at the beginning, middle, and end of each semester which showed that my students improved their SAT English scores an average of 15-25%.

In addition to my experience within the United States, my career includes 7 years teaching overseas in China learning Mandarin and teaching ESoL.

Unlike many tutors, I design much of my own content (graphic organizers, test-prep strategies, video courses), and I provide custom and targeted feedback on writing assignments. Feel free to inquire about my methodology!

I also tutor groups at cheaper rates! 2-3 students can receive tutoring for $35/hour, and groups of 4+ can receive tutoring for $25/hour. All rates, naturally, are negotiable dependent on the subject tutored and number of sessions.

valuable SAT English specialist

My grandson just completed his 5th online session with Robert. We met him after not very successfully working with a couple of other tutors in this area and have decided to stick with Robert for the long run. First of all, he knows intimately all the tricks and mechanics of the SAT. Secondly, not only can he convey them very well, but he quickly finds how to tailor his message specifically for the needs of a particular student. Additionally, Robert is always glad to help with related projects, like consulting for a school paper.

Great SAT Verbal Tutor

My daughter’s SAT verbal score improved more than 100 points after working with Robert (about 8 sessions). Her SAT verbal score reached above 700, even though she is not a good reader/writer. Robert is knowledgeable about various problem-solving strategies and is very skilled at teaching them. In addition, he is very easy to talk and accommodating. We are very happy with him!

Kaori, 14 lessons with Robert

Very easy to work with.

Explained things so that they were easy to comprehend. Showed me more efficient ways to study. I am learning to focus on whats most important and not wasting so much time on things that are unnecessary.
