So, if study is a constant source of problems for you, or you feel like you're just not good in a subject, be assured that as you understand certain basics, that all smooths out. I once had a student who just couldn't get through algebra. The parents were at their wit's end. I did a couple sessions and made this startling discovery - she was seeing minus signs as equal signs - she needed glasses! In 16 years, nobody had ever picked this up, not even the student! So that's how basic, basic can be.

My name is Dan, and the subjects I tutor include all levels of math through calculus, economics, statistics, physics, and accounting and investing basics. I can also tutor test prep, English vocabulary and composition. And as noted, I'm quite expert in rapidly debugging a student, clearing up the missed areas, and getting the student winning and moving again successfully through the material. I think a large part of my success is that I have over 30 years experience applying math and computer science to engineer systems in the real world, so I'm focused on rapidly getting the result wanted by the client.

As I do this essentially around the clock, I can always work out my schedule to the client's satisfaction, including nights and weekends. I also have worked all over Los Angeles County, from West LA to East LA all the way to Pasadena and Alhambra, and from Hollywood to Pacoima. I also successfully tutor using shared desktop software when convenient or in emergencies.

But I believe it's best to hear what my clients have to say, so I've included a reference below.

It would be great to hear from you.

Best,
Dan K.

Econometrics,

Econometrics

I have a math degree from UCSD, and have developed software for stock picking strategies that requires knowledge of not only price and volume patterns, but also the ability to understand company financials, and market dynamics. I have been tutoring economic courses for 4 years. In particular, I regularly tutor economics at USC, including econometrics.
Finance, Financial Accounting, Macroeconomics, Managerial Accounting, Microeconomics, Microsoft Excel

Computer

C,

C

I graduated from UCSD with a math degree. After graduation, I became a software engineer and developed a graphics system for air traffic controllers in system, and later used C and C++ in the development and maintenance of the popular defragmenter, Diskeeper. Also used C and C++ for my stock picking software development. I have a lot of experience programming, in particular in these two languages.
C++,

C++

I graduated from UCSD with a math degree. I had lots of early experience in C and then moved to C++ in the 1990s working for Executive Software on developing and maintaining the popular defragmenter, Diskeeper. I also used C++ to develop a stock picking strategy program that predicts rates of returns based on price, volume and insider transaction patterns.
Computer Programming,

Computer Programming

I graduated from UCSD with a math degree. In college, I took computer science courses as well. After graduation, I became a software engineer and have worked for 35 years in this field. I have built large aerospace systems, systems software, and stock strategies. I have significant experience as a programmer.
Computer Science,

Computer Science

I graduated from UCSD with a math degree but also took computer science courses as well. After graduation, I became a software engineer and have worked for 35 years in this field, specializing in graphics. My forte is computational algorithms, and I have tremendous expertise in debugging software. I have build large aerospace systems, systems software, and stock strategies using microcode, assembler, pascal, fortran, Ada and the C languages
Fortran,

Fortran

I have been a programmer for almost 40 years. I did a lot of aerospace work after college and much of this was scientific programming using Fortran.
Pascal,

Pascal

I graduated from UCSD with a math degree, graduating magna cum laude. Interestingly, the professor who developed Pascal was at UCSD, and was continuing it's development during my years there. Much of my coursework and a special project was written in Pascal.

Raul, 2 lessons with Dan

great experience

Super smart and very knowledgeable about everything he teaches. Takes his time so that the student can understand the fundamentals of problems. Took him twice and was happy both times.

Knowable and extremely patient tutor.

Dan is excellent at explaining the basic concepts of biostatistics. I learned more in two hours than in the 6 weeks I've been in school! I have an extremely hard time understanding mathematics, Dan was patient and worked with me until he was sure I understood. Thank you Dan!

An Excellent Teacher with Great Coaching Skills

I am new to C++ with no experience. Dan guided me through assignments, and taught me HOW to think like a computer and programmer. He is just the guidance I needed. I am looking forward to our future sessions!

Expert in Excel

Dan taught me how to do pivot tables and correlate data and run regression. Dan was very professional and knows how to convey complex topics in a simple manner. Dan has a very proficient grasp on excel and I would recommend anyone who needs help in excel whether it be advanced or basic.
