About Alejandro

Bio

Hello, my name is Alejandro! I have a Bachelor's '21 and Master's (MEng) '23 from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Also minors in Latin American Studies and Environment and Sustainability. My Master's focused on AI and the research focused on atmospheric sensors for use in cube satellites.

Hello, my name is Alejandro! I have a Bachelor's '21 and Master's (MEng) '23 from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Also minors in Latin American Studies and Environment and Sustainability. My Master's focused on AI and the research focused on atmospheric sensors for use in cube satellites.

I have taught two month long programs for kids ages 8-18 in both Peru and Spain. For the middle & high school level I taught basic programming/algorithms, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and robotics skills. This included some 3D design and CAD work alongside 3D printing. For the kids ages 8-12 we focused on general engineering principles and used fun activities like making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to teach early algorithm design (both one on one and full classroom instruction).

My general teaching style is patient. I use unique learning techniques for each student. I explain topics in several different ways—so the student comprehends & has a fuller understanding of the concept. I am open to trying new teaching styles/techniques. I am fresh out of college, which makes me particularly attuned to students' needs. I am confident teaching math up to the Calculus level, writing (both technical and creative writing), SAT prep, programming (python/java would be my strongest languages), electrical engineering, 3D Design/CAD work, PCB design, basic web design (HTML/CSS), and more!

I am a native English speaker and fluent in Spanish & Portuguese. I've had multiple internships including a wind energy internship in Brazil and microcontroller internship w/ Micron (semiconductor technology). In high school I received a perfect MATH SAT score & a near perfect English score. I was accepted to MIT, UCLA, Berkeley, Columbia, etc. I am happy to help for any college admissions consulting, interviews, applications or essays.

Talented Teacher with Broad Coverage of Subjects

Alejandro provides my son critiques and guidances on essay writing, with clear instructions, links to helpful resources, examples, and well-organized learning objectives each week. Alejandro is also excellent in connecting with students, which is particularly helpful as my son is an introvert. Alejandro has broad coverage of different subjects. As we wrap up our essay writing lessons, we plan to move onto doing a small Python programming project. Once again, Alejandro has provided us quite a few ideas to consider. It's a collaborative process to create a lesson plan that works with the individual student.
