Hello, I'm Purvi! I have been teaching 1-on-1 for 13 years in elementary and middle school settings. I am very passionate about teaching and that has allowed me to achieve success in working with students in general education and with students who have special needs.
I have experience teaching students diagnosed with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, etc. It gives me immense satisfaction when I see their confidence and self-esteem grow. I teach math with real examples which students can relate to and in turn, give them a better understanding of the concepts. Proficiency in reading comprehension comes with practice. I break down the material in smaller parts, which helps students understand and eventually develop a love for reading.
I have an Early Childhood Education degree from De Anza College. I am proficient in elementary-level math and reading along with pre-algebra and algebra.
I look forward to working with your child and being a part of their academic success. Feel free to contact me with additional questions or to schedule a lesson! I am available to meet online on weekdays and weekends.
I have tutored my own kids through elementary and middle school in math (Elementary School Math/PreAlgebra/Algebra/Geometry), helping them to boost their grades while getting a strong foundation for high school. They were able to start their high school years by taking Honors Pre-Calculus in grade 9.
I have also worked in a resource setting where we help students with reading. Starting at their current level we help them to achieve progress and confidence by raising one reading level at a time.
Working in special education has been rewarding and satisfying. I have had success with students helping them achieve their reading and math goals as well as reducing their dependence on adults. 7 of my students have got to a level where they have been completely independent in the general education setting.
