Hi, I'm Mark and I'd look forward to tutoring you!

I've worked as a professional magician -- cruise ships, resort hotels, corporate trade shows, etc. -- and have offered magic lessons, from time to time. Magic can be an excellent way to help shy students to enhance their social skills.

I've also I've taught courses in Philosophy and Psychology, for over 25 years, at a number of collegs, including Binghamton University, Broome Community College, Kaplan University (online), Grantham University (online) and Post University (online) and Bellarmine University (classroom). I have an M.A. in Philosophy from Binghamton University, an M.A. in Psychology from New School University and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Philosophy and Psychology from Union Institute & University.

I've also written three books, including "Awakening with the Enemy: The Origin and End of Male/Female Conflict," "The Paranoid Vision: An Inquiry into the Epistemology of Evil," and "Mysteries in Broad Daylight: The Deeper Meaning of Everyday Life."

I am particularly skilled in helping students to improve their critical thinking and writing. Those are skills that can help them in a great many subject areas. Having also worked, for many years, as an executive coach, I can help students to improve their resumes, interview skills and public speaking ability. I can also teach them the skills needed to get along well with their coworkers.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have. I look forward to working with you!

I believe in the Berlitz method, which has the student utilize English to the greatest extent during the lessons. In other words, there is less time devoted to grammar and more time devoted to simply having the student engage in conversation. The dialogue can be on subjects of interest to the student, anything from baseball to computers. When I utilize this method, rapid gains are made in language ability.

SAT Reading

I believe that a student can improve his or her ability on reading exams, such as the SAT, by learning to ask the right questions. For example, one such question is, "What is the author's point in this passage." Utilizing this method, rapid gains can be made and the student can obtain a very high score.
