I taught Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4, 4-H, 5-H and Spanish 5-Advanced Placement at Hanover High School, Hanover, Massachusetts for 17 year before moving to Florida. Also, I've taught Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Spanish, as well as French and E.S.L. to adults at the Charlotte County Cultural Center, Port Charlotte, Florida. I completed a B.A. at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, with a Spanish major, Business Mngmt. minor, and a concentration in International Relations. I have an...

I taught Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4, 4-H, 5-H and Spanish 5-Advanced Placement at Hanover High School, Hanover, Massachusetts for 17 year before moving to Florida. Also, I've taught Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Spanish, as well as French and E.S.L. to adults at the Charlotte County Cultural Center, Port Charlotte, Florida. I completed a B.A. at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, with a Spanish major, Business Mngmt. minor, and a concentration in International Relations. I have an M.Ed from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA., as well as extensive graduate courses in Spanish at the Colegio de Espana in Salamanca, Spain and the Universidad de Alcala de Henares, just outside of Madrid, Spain.

E.S.L. EXPERIENCE: I am thrilled to share my love of the Spanish language AND of the English language to English-language learners.

From 2007 -- 2011, I taught English (E.S.L. -- English as a Second Language) summer-course teacher for Access to Language, Phoenix, AZ. Classes held at Stonehill College, Easton, MA and Curry College, Milton, MA. Here, I had the pleasure of meeting young students from all around the world. It was a richly-rewarding way to spend my summers for those four years, while living in Massachusetts.

When my husband and I moved to Florida, I began teaching E.S.L. to adults at the Charlotte County Cultural Center in Port Charlotte, Florida. Here, I had the pleasure of teaching and interacting with people from over 28 countries from around the world, some of whom I am still friends with today.

I am honored to help anyone in the noble pursuit of language learning, even if it is just to achieve a successful grade in high school or college or to learn the language for business or pleasure. Not all subjects come easy to everyone. Nearly 20 years of tutoring has taught me this. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals. I love people and I love what I do.

Fantastic tutor with wonderful personality and expertise!

I am a high school sophomore who had to learn an entire textbook over the summer to skip a level in Spanish. Two weeks before the placement test, I started taking lessons with Ms. Silvia, and I only regret that I didn't start earlier. I could immediately feel myself improving under her careful guidance. She quickly clarified my confusion over the multitude of tenses, and always gave targeted feedback around the grammatical concepts that I was struggling with. She was very flexible with scheduling, provided me with a wealth of additional resources to further aid my understanding, and always explained everything in a straightforward, easy-to-understand way. Her energetic personality always made my day, and her constant enthusiasm, encouragement, and kindness made me feel incredibly safe, welcomed, and supported. With her patient and nurturing help, I not only passed the test, but also gained tremendous confidence in my knowledge and abilities. Ms Rita was excellent teacher

Ms. Rita is so polite and a dedicated teacher. My son was not a big fan of Spanish when he learned it in Middle school. Ms. Rita went over the homework. prepared the quiz and tests, and practiced with a fun way of finding words and catching the conversation with him. He was an A all the time in high school. I couldn't be happier. I will definitely come back next year.
