I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. As an undergraduate, I studied sociology, music, and psychology. I also have a Masters in science-based anthropology. With these areas of study, mixed with my current course of study of pharmacy, I have been able to form a solid foundation in the Arts and STEM.

Currently, I am a professional student in pharmacy, pursuing my PharmD and PhD. I have excelled at many science and writing-based classes. I have also tutored standardized tests, such as the GRE, PCAT, SAT, ACT, and AP tests, extensively.

I am a passionate tutor who is dedicated first and foremost to the success of my students. I ensure that my pupils have 100% comprehended all the subjects we have discussed together. It is easy to merely shovel facts to someone, but my goal is to find ways to apply these facts and knowledge to practical skills. This tends to be hardest in math and chemistry, but I have plenty of practice we can do together!

I love to learn, and I share this passion with everyone with whom I come in contact. I hope to have the opportunity to share this attitude with all of my students.

I am available at the times listed in my profile, but some exceptions can be made outside these general times. My availability is updated regularly. Feel free to reach out with any questions about specific availability that might fall near the available windows.

GRE,

GRE

I took the GRE in February 2018 and received a 165 on Verbal (96th percentile), 166 on Quantitative (91st percentile), and a 5.5 on Analytical Writing (98th percentile). The test is almost always delivered by computer, which adapts to the test taker. I find this is advantageous to the student because they are really showing their skills off. I build upon what the student knows, which is easier with more time. Let me know if you would like to start preparing for the GRE.

Hebrew,

Hebrew

I have studied Biblical and Modern Hebrew and am comfortable with teaching the fundamentals. I currently teach Biblical Hebrew to advanced middle schoolers and have done so for a couple years. There are a vast number of similarities between Biblical and Modern Hebrew, but the differences are stark. Just let me know what branch of Hebrew you need help with, so that I am able to assist accordingly.

Anthropology,

Anthropology

One of my minors in college was anthropology. I am most well-versed in sociocultural anthropology, however, I am able to assist in Biological and Archaeological anthropology. My passion for the study of human interactions show when I teach students. While in college, I ensured the success of many of my fellow students in anthropology.
Bible Studies,

Bible Studies

In the recent past, I have taught the Hebrew Bible, which is considered the Old Testament for many Christians. In addition, I incorporate New Testament Scriptures into my classroom to supplement learning. My knowledge runs on a scholarly level, meaning that I am able to provide context and historical background to the text, as opposed to theology.
Classics,

Classics

While working on my Masters, I encountered several classes where I studied Hellenistic and Roman literature. Further, my thesis was centered around classical antiquity. I studied the similarities and differences between pre- and post-Second Temple literature. Finally, I have worked extensively on studying historiographic trends in Classics from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra I is a critical class to understand most secondary math subjects. While I took the class many years ago, I still use the concepts on a regular basis, even in classes like chemistry. I have taught the subject in a classroom, as well as tutored the subject for over a decade.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I have taken several college courses in chemistry through Organic and Physical Chemistry. In addition, I have taken a few labs for general and organic chemistry. I did well in all classes, and my strengths would help prepare anyone for a general chemistry exam or the AP or CLEP Chemistry test.
Geometry,

Geometry

I took honors Geometry in high school and passed with high marks. Since then, I have added to my knowledge with multiple classes in Calculus. For Geometry, I try to make proofs and theorems interactive in order to make what can be a dry subject more interesting and fun. Once there is a solid foundation in these concepts, it is easier to teach more advanced formulas that are in most state curricula.

Knowledgable and great at explaining

Jason taught my child how to read the amino acid sequence charts for her Biology class and carefully reiterated information to her to help her understand and process the information. He is very patient and modifies his teaching techniques to accommodate his students. I am very impressed with Jason and am so happy that my daughter is beginning to understand the Biology material after one tutoring session.

Tutor responded:

Brandy, it has been my pleasure to work with your daughter. I have really enjoyed seeing her self-confidence rise when she starts to understand the concepts behind the material. Biology is more than just memorization, so I am happy to be helping with conceptualization!

Effective and Hands on Tutor

Jason was prepared before the start of the first session. I sent him the syllabus and he got the ball rolling. He was able to explain the material and help me to finish my assignment. He taught and helped me exactly where I needed. Jason will be my regular tutor for the next school year.

Awesome and Amusing Authority in Academia

Wow. I had such a great time with Jason during my Hebrew Lesson. He was warm, entertaining, and made the information less intimidating in the way he explained things. He has a long history with Hebrew that is fascinating and couples with learning the language. He has a great way of how to approach the letters and words in a simple way. I was very impressed and highly recommend him.

Very patient and diligent!!

I actually messaged Jayson yesterday and we scheduled the meeting for today at 6:30pm. He went above and beyond to understand my questions regarding the Microsoft Excel — Spreadsheet. I’m having trouble for Pivot Tables, and Graphs for weeks. Jayson solved it in just minutes. I was so happy. He is very knowledgeable! Best recommended.

Knowledgeable and personable tutor

Being extremely new to Hebrew (and overwhelmed!), Jason provided a clear and helpful way to get started. Within the first 60 minutes I gained a lot of new insights on vowels and pronunciation, and some interesting and helpful knowledge of Jewish history, culture, etc. Thank you Jason!
