Hello, my name is Ms. Quita. I am a graduate of Old Dominion University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. My goal is to continue my career as a curriculum leader and an administrator. As an Administrator, I would like to offer solutions to the challenges our students and teachers endure, hindering our students from academic success. I have been instructing elementary students for 12 years and enjoyed every moment, providing my students with learning experiences that resulted in “Aha!” moments and illuminating light bulbs. I maintain a fervent desire to promote learning that is active and interactive at multiple levels of understanding, to provide an opportunity for learners to be the origin of their own learning, and to create concrete learning experiences that facilitate reformed or new knowledge. In my role as an educator, I strive to build and foster student confidence by adapting to their needs and abilities, providing emotional support, and creating engaging lessons.

I have 12 years of tutoring experience in reading, math, and fifth-grade science as I have conducted small group tutoring and after-school tutoring to prepare for SOL testing/Expedited Retakes, improve academic performance and address academic deficits within a content area. When working with a student, I begin with a diagnostic assessment, data from weekly assessments, or feedback provided by the parent or caregiver to determine student needs. I will then create individualized lessons to address the needs of my students. Students will also have an opportunity to work on assignments to reinforce the skills taught during the sessions.

Collaborating with the parents or caregivers is also important to the success of my students, therefore I welcome any suggestions, feedback, or concerns you may have. Your input will always play a role in the development of your child’s individualized lessons.
