Bio

Hi! My name is Richard and I am currently an anesthesiology resident! I graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Psychology. Throughout my medical school courses, I have been able to figure out test taking strategies and studying tips that have allowed students to not become overwhelmed, while at the same time synthesize as much information as possible by repetition rather than memorization.

Hi! My name is Richard and I am currently an anesthesiology resident! I graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Psychology. Throughout my medical school courses, I have been able to figure out test taking strategies and studying tips that have allowed students to not become overwhelmed, while at the same time synthesize as much information as possible by repetition rather than memorization.

I am heavily focused on USMLE / COMLEX tutoring for US DO, MD, and IMG students struggling to pass the exams. I have tutor hundreds of students and have gotten them from failing NBME/COMSAE scores to passing STEP and LEVEL exams with ease! My students have gone from failing their board exams to matching at Ivy League residency programs in various specialties.

My tutoring style focuses on using visuals and diagrams rather than outlines as I have learned that the best way to grab my students' attention and allow them to retain information in the long run comes from being able to attach a visual detail to their memory! From high school to medical school courses, the workload always seems to be too much to handle, and using quick mnemonics and shortcuts in order to grab big picture details to orient the students into a topic and then dive deeper into the subject has seemed to work.

I took STEP 1/ LEVEL 1 in April 2021 and STEP 2 / LEVEL 2 in June 2022, so understanding the new style NBME and NBOME questions is very fresh! I would love to go over high yields and tricks and tips for question interpretation that we are not taught from curriculum per say, which is something that totally changed my scores as my dedicated weeks went on to get a 250+ and a 700+!  The students I have previously and currently work with have shown massive improvements in short amounts of time, with all students going from NBME scores even below 150 to without stress! (both IMG and US MD/DO). Any resources that you need I have, from textbooks to videos to visual aids that I have kept over the last few years! Amazing tutor for STEP 1

Richard was a great tutor for STEP 1! He was very flexible with times and filling in different content gaps. We would go over high yield topics and also focus on question strategies for exam day. He brought up my scores on practice exams over 30 points in 4 weeks. I would recommend him to any student needing more confidence during STEP studying!

Richard is such a great tutor. His focus on looking at the question and really finding the true thing they are asking is super helpful.
