I'm very patient and positive with my students. I meet with my students and/or the family to develop an overall plan first, based on their schedule and needs.
I can help if your need is:

(2) Overall grade improvement,
(3) Preparing for a specific test or quiz,

I can help if your need is:

(1) Getting caught up in a class
(2) Overall grade improvement,
(3) Preparing for a specific test or quiz,
(4) Understanding what is being taught at school and homework assistance.

I will often ask students to teach me how to solve a specific problem to make sure they truly grasp the concept and to reinforce the information learned. I also ask questions to keep my students involved and to get them "thinking" about the material from a different perspective. Depending on the needs of the student, I provide skill work that can be completed prior to our next meeting. For this, I use the best books I've come across and used in my own teaching.

Anyone can do well in math! I help my students to realize that they can do it while implementing techniques that work and a few tips and tricks to help guide them along. I teach my students how to think mathematically so that they can do well in math this year and apply that thinking to future math classes as well. If I'm in the middle of a problem with one of my students I will stay and make sure work is complete even if our time frame is up for that day.

I encourage questions via email, and if a student gets stuck on an assignment or a topic outside of our meeting time, they can reach out to me as well.

I can tailor tutoring to to your needs and hope I will have the opportunity to work with you and your love ones to succeed in math!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

The major areas of Algebra 1 that I tutor cover: solving and graphing linear equations, writing linear equations (using slope intercept, point, slope, form, etc.) solving and graphing linear inequalities, exponential functions, polynomials and factoring. I usually work from a student's book and focus on the sections they are currently covering in school. I use interactive algebra puzzles with games and riddles for remediation as needed. (my students seem to really enjoy doing these).
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 tutoring focusses on the basic concepts introduced in Algebra 1 while broadening the students understanding of algebraic concepts. Many of these concepts are designed to prepare students for Pre-calculus and trigonometry that they will be taking next year. The alebraic axioms of equality are emphasized and then used to solve real world problems. Key topics are: Factoring, Systems of Equations, Powers and Roots, Exponents, Radicals, Quadratics, Logarithmic and Exponential Functions and Numerial Trigonometry. These concepts sound trickier than they are. The truth is once we get to a point where we can understand and think about what is happening in these problems, it becomes much easier.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

The major areas covered in prealgebra are: Solving one step equations and inequalities, factors, operations with fractions, ratios, proportions, linear functions and graphing, area and volume, right triangles, probability and polynomials. These are all areas I have experience in. Prealgebra builds the foundational skills that students will need to apply next year in Algebra 1. Getting these concepts down will greatly help prepare a student for what they'll being doing in math next year.

Absolutely Awesome

Our daughter struggles in school with math because the teacher goes so fast and she just can’t keep up.?Sean patiently and clearly explained everything in a way she understands. Her confidence in her ability to understand the language of math is greatly improving every time she works with him! And the best part is that he doesn’t take down to her. If you select him as your tutor, it will be the best decision you ever make.

Outstanding Tutor

Sean tutored my daughter in preparation for the math SAT exam. Sean immediately took into account how much time we had until test day and tailored his tutoring plans accordingly. Sean is nice, knowledgeable, and patient, but more importantly was able to present the material in a way that was very easy for my daughter to understand. He kept my daughter on track and she felt more confident to take the exam. I highly recommend Sean as a math tutor.
