I have four years of experience teaching Chemistry (I & II), Physics, and Ecology. I have a BS in Chemistry from East Tennessee State University with a minor in education and a BS in Computer Science from Oregon State University. While a student in college, I learned that a different instructor can make a huge difference in the ability of a person to understand the material of a course. An educator who has a desire for a student to be successful can be very helpful to leading that student to success. As a teacher, I gained experience working with students of varying backgrounds and skill levels.

I learned how it may take different approaches for different students to grasp the same concept. Sometimes it would take a one-on-one tutoring session with a student for them to better their knowledge of the science or math needed to understand the lesson. As a tutor, I can get instant feedback from the student that will allow the lessons to be adapted in real time. I have been helping tutor others since I was in high school and have a large desire to see others succeed.

While working as a substitute teacher before getting a full-time position, I would often be specifically requested by math teachers to stand-in for them because my experience with Chemistry and Physics gives me a strong background in math ranging from algebra to calculus. While in college, I spent one summer working as a tutor for an Algebra 2 credit recovery program.

My degree in chemistry gives me a strong background for the subject. To get my certification for both chemistry and physics, I was required to pass the Praxis II exam for each subject.

My degree in computer science has given me an understanding of the various parts, including algorithms and data structures.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge and helping students gain a better understanding of chemistry, physics, math, or computer science.
