I'm Kelly. My educational background includes a BSE in English, drama, and an endorsement in journalism. I have a masters in curriculum and development. Some of my experience is with the state department as a program advisor in charter schools' office and educator effectiveness, and as an academic consultant where I had opportunity to provide training to teachers and principals.
My approach is to provide an introduction to a lesson in an interesting way, provide direct teaching, and offer independent practice. This approach can always adapt according to the needs of the student. Altogether, I have 29 years' experience as an educator. Most of my teaching experience was in a classroom setting. However, in my two years as an academic consultant I did work with small groups. This past year I have worked as a dyslexia interventionist and continued to work with small groups.
Most of my ELA work has been with 7-12; however, i have worked with younger students with reading instruction. Over my career, I have worked with classroom, small group, and one-on-one. Overall, my goal is to encourage and engage students in the learning process. Even though I have several resources to utilize, I do value parent and student input on learning style and resources that best fit the learning style of the student.
