Hello! My name is Connor Shillam and I am a Music Education student at Grand Canyon University. My main instrument is trombone, which I have played for over 10 years. I am a piano minor with experience in guitar, euphonium, and trumpet as well.
I am working towards my degree to get certified as a music educator. My goal is to become a band director and eventually teach at a collegiate level. I love helping people achieve their goals and have helped my colleagues and younger students improve their playing.
I have the experience studying the material and playing in a large number of collegiate and professional ensembles. I have studied music since elementary school and spend many hours a week playing trombone.
I have experience playing in the Eastern Washington University Marching Band, Code Red pep band, Concert Jazz Orchestra, Trombone Choir, Jazz Combos, Trumpet Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Brass Quintet, and Concert Choir. I have also played across the northwest with the MasterClass Big Band, Milonga, and Mannschaft Polka Band, in addition to my experience advancing to state competition in the 2019 Washington State Solo and Ensemble Festival.
At Grand Canyon University, I am a current member of the Thundering Heard Pep Band, Wind Ensemble, Thunder Big Band, Piano Ensemble, and Brass Chamber Ensemble.
I would love to chat about what your experience is and how I can help you improve your musicianship. My evenings are usually pretty open to do lessons and I would love to chat and see what times work for you!
