Hi there! I am a full-time credentialed actuary currently working at a healthcare start-up trying to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. Hi there! I am a full-time credentialed actuary currently working at a healthcare start-up trying to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. I attained the designation of Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) in 2013, and passed each actuarial exam on my first try over the course of 4 years. I have a B.A. degree from Hamilton College, where I graduated with a double major in Economics and Mathematics (Summa Cum Laude) and among the top 20 in my class year.
In terms of my tutoring background, I have always enjoyed helping others learn or improve their mastery in a new concept. In college, I served as the Head Tutor in the Quantitative Literacy Center where I led group tutoring sessions with students on a variety of different Maths subjects, and I also volunteered as a Peer Tutor to help individual students in 1:1 settings. I believe that each student learns in their own way, so I try to present the concept through different angles until it clicks in the student's mind. That moment of "Eureka" when I see their eyes light up is an experience that I treasure in each one of my interactions.
I have significant industry and business experience in the use of Microsoft Excel and Access through the past 10 years of active use in my day-to-day work. As an actuary, I have been through a rigorous set of Actuarial examinations that covers materials related to Probability and Statistics extensively.
I use PostgreSQL and Google BigQuery in my day-to-day work, and I manage the coding pipeline that feeds our actuarial Pricing and Valuation models.
Since I work full-time during the week, I would be available for tutoring on weekends (or weekday evenings, on a case-by-case basis). I am flexible with my schedule, and we can work together to find a schedule and cadence that works for both of us.
Please reach out to me if you feel that I may be able to help. Your time is valuable, and I strongly suggest that you let me know in advance what you would like to work on, so that we can make the most of our sessions to
