I am a current medical student and took the MCAT in Spring 2021 scoring 88th percentile. I created my own study materials, methods, and schedules that I want to help others learn to create. Additionally, I was a Sunday school teacher for four years for K-5. This involved large group instruction on various religious topics and required classroom management, problem-solving, and instructional skills. I was a CPR instructor for 3 years and maintain the certification. This teaching involved 1-1 and large group settings for both written and practical skills. I was in charge of distributing nationally accredited materials, giving explanations, correcting written and practical exams, and administering test reviews. I never had someone fail my class.
I love learning and I love teaching. I am a big fan of working together to gain an understanding rather than teaching to a test. I want to help students find clarity in topics they may struggle with. Active recall and practice problems are my gold standard of study strategies. I plan to work with you or your student to build study skills while learning. This would include things like reviewing practice problems in depth and having you or your student explain each correct and incorrect answer, starting with an active recall of materials based on learning objectives, and utilizing various resources to synthesize long-term understanding. My goal is to help students learn the material so that they can effectively apply the material in new situations and retain the information.
