Scheduling
I am available for online tutoring every day between 9am-3pm, which is perfect for homeschool/college students. I am wide open on Fridays (perfect for ACT/SAT prep). On most other evenings I am pretty booked with a few openings. I work part-time at Sylvan (M/W/Sat), so my schedule is restricted on those days.

Locations
I meet students on Tuesdays at Middleburg Heights Public Library (right off 71). Thursdays & Sundays I meet at the Strongsville Market District. By meeting at central locations I can maximize the number of students I can help each day.

About Me
I have been a professional tutor since 2009, so I’m going on 14 years in the industry. Throughout my tutoring career, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults from all walks of life and academic situations. This includes honors students, remedial students, and everything in between.

My specialties include mathematics (thru calculus), ACT/SAT prep, study skills, essay writing, and the natural/social sciences. I am very patient and have an easy-going disposition. My educational background includes BA degrees in Economics and Philosophy with Graduate coursework for a MA in Philosophy.

I have helped countless students prepare for their next exam, understand a certain concept they missed in a lecture, and complete some extra practice to sharpen their skills. As a standardized test prep tutor, I have been able to help my students routinely improve their cumulative score by at least 2-3 points (ACT), especially when working with engaged students (4-5+ points).

I wish I could tell you more, but I am limited by word count. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to reach out and start a conversation with me today!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

The subjects of Algebra 1 are at the core of virtually all the mathematics courses a high school/college student will encounter. Therefore, it is imperative to build strong foundations in these areas. Furthermore, practicing algebra helps to develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and both inductive & deductive reasoning. These abilities can help students more comfortably navigate complex problems. I have tutored these subjects to many students for over 11 years, and I bring a fresh perspective to understanding the concepts and solving the necessary problems. Each student learns at a different pace and may better relate to certain analogies over others. If your student is falling behind and having trouble understanding his or her teacher’s lectures, then they may require a fresh perspective and the benefits one-on-one tutoring brings to the learning process.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

The subjects of Algebra 2 are at the core of virtually all the mathematics courses a high school/college student will encounter. Therefore, it is imperative to build strong foundations in these areas. Geometry,

Geometry

Like Algebra, Geometry is one of the fundamental pillars of mathematics, and it has an important role to play both in the real world and a student’s later studies in high school and college math courses. Establishing a strong foundation in the core concepts will save a lot of headaches in later courses and on tests like the ACT/SAT. The study of Geometry helps to strengthen skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and both deductive & spatial reasoning. I have tutored students in Geometry for over 11 years, and I seek to bring a fresh perspective on learning the key properties and relationships, along with the problem-solving strategies necessary for completing the proofs and constructions with which students most often struggle. If your student is falling behind and having trouble understanding his or her teacher’s lectures, then they may benefit from the extra attention one-on-one tutoring brings to the learning process.

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

The ACT Math test is composed of questions from the subjects of Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Trigonometry. For a student to do their best, it is important to have a strong understanding of the key concepts in each of these fields, along with a proficiency in the most efficient test-taking strategies. My ACT Math prep tutoring focuses on building up the student in both of these areas.

Fantastic

He was great at helping my son learn new concepts in his Algebra II class. He was behind in class and with the help of Sean he is catching up. He is able to explain things in a way that my son is truly understanding.

Review of tutoring with Sean M.

Sean reviewed math operations with my grandson as a refresher to the start of the new school year. He was great with Jack, very easygoing and Jack likes Sean. He was also very flexible regarding scheduling meetings. We agreed to revisit more tutoring lessons as the need arises (and I believe it will). Jack's IEP specialist is on board with this. It was a very good experience. C. Young

Patient and knowledgeable

During our first session, Sean was very patient with my daughter, who didn't understand much of the geometry they were covering. We are hopeful that with his help, she will be able to grasp the concepts she needs to be successful with her course!

Excellent tutor

Sean is very helpful, he has helped my grandson understand the act test, giving him different tips on taking the test. Jamir said the tutoring is different than what he expected and he likes it.

Jocelyn, 6 lessons with Sean

Knowledgeable and patient

I liked how Sean was so patient with my daughter. He reviewed and reinforced the primary concepts of algebra. The primary concepts include graphing systems of inequalities, solving word problems (by graphing) for systems of inequalities, and solving/graphing quadratic inequalities. In order to gain a better understanding, he reviewed the basics of how to simplify equations into slope-intercept form then the steps the take in creating a graph. Once these fundamentals were established, my daughter could apply this process to solving word problems. For the word problems, the most difficult part is knowing how to set up the equations.
