With a BS degree in meteorology (and minors in both math and English), and over 15 years of professional experience as a senior analyst (where I learned and use all MS Office applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook), economist, and tax preparer, my expertise is in MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Access, math, science, English, writing, and tax...

I am a patient and understanding tutor who takes a sincere interest in those that I help. I can take the complex and make it seem simple. With a BS degree in meteorology (and minors in both math and English), and over 15 years of professional experience as a senior analyst (where I learned and use all MS Office applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook), economist, and tax preparer, my expertise is in MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Access, math, science, English, writing, and tax preparation.

Through my work, I use all of the MS Office applications, write extensive analyses and a monthly economic newsletter, and tutor students of differing ages and backgrounds.

The most important thing for a student is to understand their material. With both knowledge and understanding, you will be empowered to conquer anything you want. My goal as your tutor is to help you obtain that knowledge and understanding in a fun way.

In my current, and prior two positions, on a daily basis I have had to pull large amounts of data from in-house databases (using Business Objects or Synergy Analytics) and download this data into Excel. I have had to create many types of reports and presentations with the use of Excel.

After being with them for nearly 18 months, I then moved to private industry, where I have worked as a statistician, economist, and analyst/manager of analytics ever since. For all the years I have worked in private industry, I have continued to do income tax preparation "on the side", where I have had steady customers through the years. I estimate that I have prepared close to 500 income tax returns since 1980.

In my current, and prior two positions, on a daily basis I have had to pull large amounts of data from in-house databases (using Business Objects or Synergy Analytics) and download this data into Access. I have had to create tables, and then queries to pull the data needed from Access, and then to copy and paste it into Excel. Once in Excel, I am/was able to create customized reports, ad hoc reports, or the reports I needed to do detailed analysis.

Gary is very understanding, and doesn’t waste time which I love. His knowledge is deep and vast, and he lets you explain your reasoning instead of just rote memory which I appreciate. Knowledgeable and Easy to Understand Tutor

I would highly recommend Gary. In just under 2 hours, Gary taught me quite a bit about Excel (Formulas, Pivot Tables, V-lookups) and Powerpoint. The session did not feel rushed, and I now feel very comfortable to use both on my own. Gary used and organized way to explain the information and took the time to make sure I understood.
