Hello, I'm Melissa! I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (cum laude) from Boston College and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University. Not only did I study STEM in school, but I also have a strong passion for it. Since I was in middle school, I was always interested in math and what I could do with it. In high school, I was one of the top students in my math classes, including AP Calculus BC, and knew I wanted to pursue it in college. After majoring in math at Boston College and getting some work experience, I wanted to expand on my love for the STEM field and went back to school to study mechanical engineering.

I tutored elementary school children in math while I was in high school and college and have always had a passion for helping others. As a math tutor, I treat every problem like a puzzle. I believe breaking down a problem into distinct steps and spending enough time solving each part is an important part of math and what I focus on in my tutoring sessions. Examples are the key to learning, especially in math, so my tutoring sessions are very example based. We will go through a few problems in depth before practicing more examples to make sure it is clear how the concepts apply to a variety of problems. All of these concepts can be applied to my specialities, which include Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus.

Throughout my educational and professional career, I've wanted to inspire others to love the STEM field as much as I do.
