About Deborah Lynn

Bio

I’m rather a nerd for all things English: essay writing, narratives, grammar, sentence construction, and punctuation. The details about how to use the English language are like a game to me. I believe all people can learn to use the English language and communicate their ideas clearly and masterfully. I love assisting students to write essays that analyze: literature, persuasive articles, works of art, songs--just about anything.
My teaching colleagues came to me to review writings...

I’m rather a nerd for all things English: essay writing, narratives, grammar, sentence construction, and punctuation. The details about how to use the English language are like a game to me. I believe all people can learn to use the English language and communicate their ideas clearly and masterfully. I love assisting students to write essays that analyze: literature, persuasive articles, works of art, songs--just about anything.
My teaching colleagues came to me to review writings they were publishing to our colleagues because they trusted my knowledge of how English is constructed.
Seven years of tutoring, some in person, now, all online, is informed by 33 years of teaching public high school and, for a couple years, community college courses. For10 years, I guided juniors in AP English Language and Composition. Nearly every one who took the exam, passed it for college credit.
I do coach TIQA-TIQA-C: topic sentence, introduce and quote, analyze, conclusion.
After earning Rank One at UofLouisville, I created my portfolio and became National Board Certified Teacher in English, Youth & Young Adults.
I tutor online to support writers and earn an income beyond my other careers: audiobook narrating and producing, text editing (novels, non-fiction, applications, blogs, etc.), and garlic growing and braiding.

In your document, I will check for language flow, diction, appropriate headings and formatting as well as lower order elements: citations, grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation skills for you to learn and apply as you revise the final draft of your document. If Lessons are requested, sessions will focus on skills you can learn to revise all documents and to apply in subsequent writing tasks.
