The best part of this for me is watching my students overcome their particular obstacles and knowing I helped them achieve the level of success they set for themselves. My main goal is to help you achieve yours!

I'm a former certified NYS math, physics, and technology teacher. As an active supporter of STEM learning experiences and non-traditional education since the mid-90s, I volunteered in the schools and at outreach events before offering private tutoring services in 2002.

For math and science in general, I can draw from nearly two decades of work experience in various settings (office, lab, field, production, retail, distribution) and two years working directly as a certified math teacher (7-12). I've helped prepare students for high-stakes testing, like NYS high school regents and college entrance exams, using techniques tailored to the needs of the individual student. Currently tutoring students from 8th grade through college in pre-algebra, algebra (1 and 2), geometry & trig, pre-calc, and advanced algebra as well as physics and calculus.

Taking a science and math class in the same semester? I'm here to help you with both subjects!

I love physics and am able to recognize a student's difficulties from teaching and tutoring this subject for over three years. I focus on building a solid understanding of the big concepts and encouraging my students to develop a sense of the reasonableness of their results; both can really help out when a little math or decoding skill sometimes gets in the way of getting the "book answer."

I encourage you to contact me to learn more and schedule our first visit. I'm looking forward to getting to know you as we enjoy our sessions together and work through what you struggle with most!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have tutored high school students in Algebra 1 since 2002!
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I am sensitive to the many ways that students struggle with the concepts and techniques that are covered in the classroom, including Algebra 2.
Geometry,

Geometry

This past year, I've helped a dozen students (8th grade through college) master the topics you'll typically see in school, on Regents exams, and on standardized tests (SAT, ACT, GRE). I've seen first-hand how students struggle with these concepts in the classroom and under pressure. We'll find a comfortable pace to advance through the basic formulas and relationships, while applying them to very practical situations. Advanced topics can also be explored for those aiming for the highest scores and harder courses.
Physics,

Physics

I had some incredible science instructors and have studied how the best teach physics. From my own teaching and tutoring physics at the high school and IB/AP/college levels over six years, I've honed my ability to recognize a student's difficulties and adjust my style to help learning happen. I focus on building a solid understanding of the big concepts and encouraging my students to develop a sense of the reasonableness of their results; both can really help out when a little math or decoding skill sometimes gets in the way of getting the "book answer."
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Over the past five years, I've helped dozens of students master the topics you'll typically see in high school and to get them ready for the rigors of Calc. I've seen first-hand how students struggle with these concepts in the classroom and under pressure. We'll find a comfortable pace to advance through the basic formulas and relationships, while applying them to very common questions and practical situations. Advanced topics can also be explored for those aiming for the highest scores (and harder courses next year).

Patient tutor who explains material thoroughly and slowly.

David helped me with a few different physics topics. He helped me prepare for multiple quizzes and tests. My concepts on topics like fluids and thermodynamics became clear after my tutor sessions with David.

Jia, 3 lessons with David

Very patient

David went above and beyond to help my very reluctant Geometry student. Couldn't have a better tutor. Helped us through technical difficulties and schedule miscommunications. Very professional.

Very good tutor

My son has just started working with David on AP Physics but so far it is going very well. My son is learning a lot and enjoys David’s style. We plan several more sessions in the months ahead.
